TNV is Ok but still just a ball
« on: February 22, 2007, 01:57:55 AM »
Let be serious about this folks...PA and JC have thrown this ball on TV and since they went heads up, everyone has jumped on the Ebonite TNV bandwaggon. Its really no different or any better then any other new ball that comes out. Everyone gets so excited about it mainly because some pros have thrown it well, besides the fact that this ball is nice looking, it doesnt move any better then any other of the top of the line balls. I've seen some not hook until teh 3rd game.

I say lets give it props but lets not bow down and praise a bowling ball. Once again, its just the latest ball. If PDW got on TV and threw the Storm Shift and won a tourney we'd be all over it just like with the TNV, Black Widow, and The One when it 1st came out.

I disagree with you... The TNV is a very special piece of equipment IMO. I have seen amy of them in use the past few weeks and I have not heard 1 single complaint about this ball in any way.. I watched it get used by crankers, strokers and fluffers alike and the ball works well for everyone.. At the PBA event a couple weeks ago in Irving, I saw it used by multiple pros with all different styles and the ball looked awesome..

Ebonite/Hammer is making the best stuff on the market right now, thats for sure.. Ron Hickland is a genious..

I concur with jkiser01. The TNV is a wonderful ball.  I'm not sure what you are saying with "it doesnt move any better then any other of the top of the line balls". Do you mean that it doesn't hook anymore than other balls? If that is the case then more hook does not equate to a better bowling ball. I drilled one of these balls up after watching 6-7 other people using the ball, including Couch and Allen.

The thing I noticed with this ball is that no matter how its drilled and who is throwing it, the ball seems to give a consistent, controllable reaction with a solid finish. From my online readings, the TNVs that don't "hook" seem to be the trick layouts that lower rev bowlers drill up. Granted, I've only read about them, not seen them.

Granted this ball isn't for every condition, but I feel that this ball can help fill almost anyones arsenal. Maybe some of the proshop guys can chime in, but it seems to be one of the more customizable balls to date.

Around here, people are drilling up TNV's, and then throwing high 700s/800s with them out of the box.  It's an incredible ball.  Someone here shot 827 with a 300 on Monday morning.

Ive seen a few people thrwo really well with this ball, just as other balls. I've also seen people struggle with this ball also. Ita s good ball but still just a ball. You mean to tell me its the all-time greatest ball ever created. You may think so, and since I havent thrown one yet, I cant say its not, but I believe that its not just the ball, its the bowler also. I think the Angular is a great ball and just as good if not better. My driller thinks the Angulr is more prominent right now because people are still throwing it inspite of the total NV madness.

Im not arguing, just stating that I think that the ball is good but I've seen 2 or 3 on the floor at the shop ready to be shipped back to ebonite because either they cracked or the bridge melted meaning it looks as if the bridge had lost its color and the paint thinned out. And if seen at least 3 barely hooking for tweeners. Crankers crank and dont have a problem with it.

I tell you what I have been struggling this past third, went to a bad ball driller and picked up some bad habits, have seen my average dip 20 pins!!  Well i went to a very reputable driller, bought a TNV!   Last night, I shoot my first 700 plus in weeks!  750 to be exact, ball is exactly what i have been looking for!
If I could only bowl my weight, I still would not average 200.   But hey I still damm sexy!

If you haven't thrown it, how can you make a statement about it?

I've had one for a month now and I was finally able to use it last night in league for the first time.  I bowled a 205 - 245 - 241.

It really opened up a tight pair of lanes for me and allowed me to be aggressive with my speed and release!

Yeah.  No ball hits the ground harder than a Total NV.

amazing.. This person started a post about the TNV saying its nnothing special and they have never even throw the ball personally..  Come on, seriously..

as far as the balls cracking, have not seen or heard of that happening anywhere.. thats gonna happen with any ball thats not preoperly drilled..

I know alot of this stuff is started by the ebonite haters out there.. Not sure how much of the negative comments are legit at this point..

No one is saying its the best ball ever, but right now, its the hottest ball on the market.. period..

I agree, A ball is just a ball. It goes down the lane and strikes... or splits, or spares.
