I was under the impression that the Hammer lightweight balls used the original Diesel core in them.  Which was a good one for me...

Brunswick still uses a performance core in 12 & 13 lbs. also.

Some companies only use them in their top line balls, so don't assume that every ball has one inside.

You're really best off contacting the individual company and requesting that information from them. My wife used to throw 13lbs and this was always a big concern for me to. Thank goodness she switched to 15! lol.

MoRich

Not Ebonite or any of its affiliates.

I don't think Brunswick does anymore.

I wasn't aware Storm did...I'll have to check that out.

I know MoRich, Lane#1, and Visionary. That's all.

Sorry rockerbowler18,

Brunswick hasn't changed. They still use the performance core for both symmetric and asymmetric cores in 12 and 13 lbs. Click on this link below, and then click on "RG numbers for all ball weights" where you'll see the numbers as well as a picture.

I approached Storm about this because my wife throws 13 and likes their products.  This is a quote from the Tech staff:

quote:
The only balls we use the pancake weight block at 13lbs is the plastic balls. All other lines, other than the Premier and Master Line, use a modified Thunder Weight Block. The Modified Thunder is the same shape that we used in the Hot Rod Super Sport.

Our Master Line and Premier Line utilize the same shape weight block 12-16 pounds.

Is my memory wrong?  Did Mo Pinel say, "...core shape dictates hook shape..."  If so... having a weight block that was the same size and shape in a lighter ball would be very important.

Stormkid84, that is not true for Storm's Fire Line of balls. Those balls are solid reisn and no filler, so the core size/weight has to be reduced for each ball under 16# just like most Legends/Lanemaster balls which are solid reisn.

I checked this situation out thoroughly when I tore my biceps tendon loose and thought I would have to drop ball weight. You have to be very careful reading what the manufacturers say as some of them state that they use a performance core in the 12 and 13 lb. balls, which turns out NOT to be the same core as in their 14 -16 lb. high performance balls.

Be careful of their definition of "same" also. MoRich seems to have the best explanation of core vs weight. Look it up.
