Yes, if you polish a ball, it's supposed to decrease the overall hook potential of a ball. It will increase length and increase backend for a relatively short period of time, unless you REALLY polish the stuff out of it. Did you REALLY polish the stuff out of it? It's always a good idea to sand it or scotch brite it before polishing to give you a fresh surface to work with. If it was polished beforehand, and you polished it again, of course it's gonna kill it. Brunswick pearls have always been touchy for me though, polish really diminishes the reaction.
