Anyone Familiar with Steelfingers?
« on: July 03, 2009, 03:17:52 AM »
I am having a problem with my middle finger and have been told that a product called Steelfingers. If you know anything about it please let me know. If so, is there any way to test it to make sure it helps?  Thanks.

Steel Fingers will help, how much is up to the individual.  They have the finger supports only and then the finger supports built right into a wrist support.  Takes some getting use to, they just velcro onto your fingers, but help without question.

They helped me when I had a tendonitis flare up in my ring finger's 2nd knuckle.

They're like $10 or $15. So it's not an expensive test. I always keep a pair with me, just in case. They're a little tedious to put on, but once they're on, you hardly know they're there. They even help with your release a little bit.

I bought a set and didn't see or feel any difference.  To me they were not supportive enough, too flimsy.

Although I purchased the steel fingers primarily for wrist support, I figured the additional support in my fingers would also help.  The product works, but it is cumbersome and time consuming and somewhat difficult to get on in the correct positions - I believe if you use it more often than I did, it would become easier.  A problem, perhaps unique to me, was I could not shoot right side spares while wearing steel fingers as I break my wrist, flatten my shot and basically shoot them straight.  Removing and replacing the steel fingers every time I left a ten pin was more than I could bear.  There are loose velcro straps that are placed two per finger, another runs accross the palm of the hand also one on the wrist and yet another on the arm.  These velcro straps are not attached to the steel fingers but are utilized with it.  The item supports and certainly does work, so much so, that I am thinking of just purchasing the model exclusive to the wrist.
