yet another ball selection question
« on: July 10, 2009, 12:48:04 AM »
i know i know another ball help question but this one is a little more specific and i would really appreciate some solid advice. i made a discovery while throwing my striking motion last night. i have not been able to throw that ball with any amount of success so i started thinking about my better games and series and what was different and 3 instances came to mind. 721 black widow drilled strong scuffed up to about 1000 abralon so really early roll tamed back end, 697 rapid fire, box finish drilled pin up,696 dimension box finish pin down. i have had more success with early rolling balls than the balls with the huge backends. so here is my question. if i use my dimension for med-heavy oil, what would be some good compliments to the dimension for heavy heavy oil and medium keeping in mind that i am looking for balls that are really smooth and dont have a giant hockey stick shape reactions like 90% of the new equipment thats out now. thanks for any input

Resurgence, Sauce, maybe Jigsaw.  All are earlier smoother balls for heavy oil

i thought the sauce was meant to be long and strong??

Any other suggestions for a more benchmark type of ball?

The Hot Sauce Pearl is long and strong.  Benchmark I would look at an Acid or Lanebreaker or maybe a Cell Pearl  For a Benchmark ball I would still lean towards a Solid so Acid.

This is easy being that he said he wants a heavy heavy oil ball that is on the smoother side.

AMF MEGA FRICTION-- nuff said, don't let the AMF fool youi. They are making amazing equipment along with 900 global

i didnt really give my stats im a bit of a tweener, medium speed medium - high revs. would this just be too much ball for me? i considered it when it came out and thought thats just O.D. and counted it as another ball i wouldnt be able to control

From what I have been reading is it is a very readable and versatile oil monster.

I think it would be a great step up from your dimension

I second the Mega Friction. Yes, it is a lot of ball to handle, but it's definitely on the smooth side of things. It spreads its energy throughout the entire lane, instead of being saving it all for the backs. I think it'd be a great step up from your Dimension.

For a benchmark, there's plenty of choices out there. I'd recommend:

-AMF Villain
-Columbia Cool Noize
-Visionary Gladiator
-Roto Grip Pluto(it moves more than you think!)
-Brunswick Copperhead

Thanks for the input guys. now obviously the second dimension was made to be a perfect compliment to the original dimension. is this a good benchmark ball though? thats kind of directed toward those ppl that have throw it. any other opinions are welcome thanks again

no profile is hard to say what would work for you.I like morich for the read on the lanes and the carry I seem to get over most other brands.I have higher revs so cover changes and layouts are important.the ez rev core is the strongest core I've ever used with all kinds of early reving mid lane and back end when it's not burning up.the next brand to consider is Brunswick and Columbia.I don't care for most Ebo made balls but the pin slasher was a good early smooth ball.

Per my latest usbs magazine, the Storm Hyroad, Lane #1 Buzzbomb, Visionary Ogre particle and Columbia Noize are the top early rolling balls.

AMF Friction.  Keep the pin even with the ring finger or higher imo.
