Get back on track in league after long lay off
« on: Today at 01:30:59 PM »
I just returned to league play this past fall and I have been struggling trying to find my old form. my best game so far this season has been 178. I used to bowl 200 games before my league shut down cause of covid. Im having a bad season so far and I keep saying to myself I want to quit. What can I do to get back on track?

Practice, practice, practice.  If you thought you were going to be out for 5 years and just go back out there shooting big games you are kidding yourself.  Since your layoff; oil conditions are probably a little different and the balls you have probably dont quite match up.  I went through this myself.  Bowled for 30+ years and averaged 235 before I had to take a layoff due to moving to a different state that has a higher cost of living.  It took me about 5-6 years to get back to where I could afford to bowl again.  First couple months after joining my first league after the layoff, the balls I had (Beast, Violent Eruption, and Deep Freeze) did not match up at all.  Covers were too weak for what I was bowling on and was now averaging 210.  Had a 25 pin drop in average even though after a month had gone by, I felt like I was rolling it pretty good.  Watched quite a few ball review videos for a couple weeks before setting on an OG Hammer Scorpion.  Instantly my scores were back to what I considered normal for a house shot.  The following season with that Scorpion; I average 241.  It is possible it may take some time to get the muscle memory back to what it used to be and if you feel you are rolling it good; then it could be just a bad match up regarding ball to the conditions.
