Been there, done that...and actually I AM there now.
First 2/3rds of this year, my teams in multiple leagues were bowling over their heads, except for me. I was the anchorman. The wrong kind! And still, we were winning games we had no business winning, and although mired in the middle of the pack with a mediocre record, figured we'd be in good shape if I could ever get my head out of my you no what.
Then, starting about 5-6 weeks ago, I finally put together several consecutive games/series that should have propelled us toward the top of our leagues, and the other players have fallen apart.
I consider myself a 190-195 bowler, but at one house where I have struggled to maintain a 170 average (it's now up to 176), I bowled a 267 for a 310 with handicap, and we actually lost that game. And I like my teammates too, so I am not faulting or blaming them in any way.
Just mentioning how frustrating it is that they hit their rough patches just as I finally dug my way out of mine. Bad timing.
