Getting a bit frustrated with the 10 pin.

Last night was city tournament and i left more 10 pins than i ever had in my life. My shots looked clean and solidly hit the pocket but that 10 pin just wouldn't go down. I tried moving forward and back and nothing really seemed to work. What are the major causes of ringing or stoning the 10?

I find that it is angle of entry.    The 3 is hit high and goes straight back a bit and puts the 6 pin into the gutter and doesn't hit out the 10.    I will normally slow down my ball to create a sharper angle, back up on the approach to get more roll, or even move to the right a board and move forward and lob the ball a few feet to create a delayed hook.    Those tend to work.  

One thing I also do is make sure I am good at picking up the 10 pin because a lot of times nothing helps

Ya picking it up was my problem, only hit like 60%-70% of them which kills my scores . The ball i was using is my new storm VG so i was playing a pretty deep line.

although the pins could have been slightly off spot the major reasons for ringing 10's are angle of entry and slight variation in ball speed.

playing a deep line with your Virtual Gravity was probably your problem, entry angle was either too much or not enough...

And that's why you left them. Let me guess.. You don't have over 350 rev rate? Very few bowlers can get the ball out of the oil at 50-55 feet and have it recover with enough punch to kick it out.

If you play deep and keep the ball in the oil that far, your ball is going to hit the pins with about the same power as it did while it was gliding through the oil.

Find a break point that compliments the length you keep the ball in the oil. Trying to move up or back isn't going to do anything to stop it in my opinion.
