help with my arsenal
« on: June 26, 2012, 08:55:59 PM »
hello BR, its been a long time since ive regularly posted on here. Been viewing a lot recently.

Id like to get some input from people on here on what I could add to the current balls I have.

Roto-Grip Rogue Cell (5x3 pin-up) x-hole to get it to start up earlier
Storm Crossroad (5x4 pin-down)
Hammer Blue Vibe (5x5 pin-up)

I use my Rogue when there is some more oil out there, but ive always felt like its needed some cleaner backends to work because of the hybrid cover.

Crossroad is a great benchmark for me, decent amount of length with some midlane read and smooth backend.

Vibe, have had this 1 the longest and its never let me down. Recently its seemed to have lost some punch that it had on the back. More light oil and spares than the mediums i used to be able to use it on.

I'm looking for something to go under the Crossroad, a little weaker but strong on the backend.
And I was also thinking of the new Freight Train from 900G as a piece right above the Rogue Cell with an earlier layout since I had success with the Bounty until it died a few months ago.

Under the Cross Road, I would suggest a Roto Grip Rising Star.  The hybrid cover/core are clean up front with a strong backend, but has a smooth predictable motion.  It would be a great compliment.

Going above the Rogue Cell, the Defiant is a great compliment.  I use those 2 balls and the Defiant is basically a newer version of the Rogue Cell except with a stronger solid cover and slightly different core.  I find that the Defiant has a similar motion to the Rogue Cell, just being slightly less angular but has the same predictable read and hitting power as the Rogue.

Comparing the Defiant to the VG Nano that I used to have, the Defiant is a much better match for me, being more predictable, smoother down lane, and does better with carrydown where the Nano would leave weak 10s or a pocket split.

Ive looked at the Defiant some, but I think I want to go with a strong symmetrical. I've always seemed to match up better with symmetric cores and the Rogue Cell being an exception.

I kinda feel like the Rising Star might be a little too close to the Crossroad, I'm thinking something more along the lines of a full pearl cover

I have Defiant, Nano and recently purchased the DV8 Revenge.  If I had to pick one of the three, the Revenge is the ball I'd go with.  I had no luck with the Defiant but I probaly will probably plug and re-drill.  The Nano for me worked much better then the Defiant drilled the same but neither is as strong and predictable as the Revenge.

Didn't care for the Fringe, sorry, a little too skid flippy for me.  But the Frantic on the other hand will probably be mid priced ball of the year.  Very similar to the Fringe but not as skid flippy.
