Another hurt wrist question.. (Update at bottom)
« on: May 02, 2009, 06:39:46 AM »
Hello everyone, to sum it up, my wrist is killing. I throw a 14lb ball, when arm-strength wise, I should be throwing 15lbs. I recently injured my wrist, AGAIN, took about 2.5 weeks off (like I have in the past), and it's now hurting even more after that day. I've seen an Orthopedic (sp?) doctor twice, had 4 different angled x-rays, and blood work. Nothing shows up wrong! Next, i'm getting an MRI on the 12th of this month to hopefully figure out a solution. After I am healed, I will start wrist strengthening excercises to hopefully prevent this happening in the future.

Does anybody know what can be wrong? Tendonitis? Worse? I don't get it. I can't even hold a 10lb ball without it hurting, at this rate. I'm pretty upset, not being able to do what I love most.

Any replies are appreciated.

Jess since Beans is his driller I don't think that is the problem. I suggested seeing a chiro to have the small bones manipulated. Russ

Buddy, it was an immediate pain, but it's also a pain i've been experiencing off and on for years now. It happened while I was bowling, and during that week, I probably bowled 15-20 games prior to that day. I'm going to go around some stores today checking for that Hand-Grip device and probably get one.

I will agree with the other replies then and say it's best to get it checked out in full before you return back. We can only hope it's an irritation of some kind, and relates to your release so it can be an easy fix.

I used to get on it a lot a few years back, and developed tendonitis in my inner-forearm. Basically ruined a lot of things for me. It's hard to work out regarding anything arm related [even chest related] because of the pain that comes along with it. Of course, I'm one of the type that 'man up' and just keep pushing. Most likely stupid on my part, as it'll probably develop into something worse.

Definitely pick that thing up! Very simple, but effective workout. I used to have real thin forearms, but after about 3-4 months of using that daily, I got that Stone Cold arm swingin' tough guy attitude goin' on for me.

Good luck, sir.

Jess, the reverse pitches are for a few reasons. The first reason I went to a sarge easter grip about a year or two ago, is because I have an unknown lump on the top knuckle of my ring finger. We're now avoiding that by adding a lot of reverse. The middle finger is reversed a lot because my skin always rips at grip line on the knuckle, and this stops it.

Buddy, i'm definitely getting a pair of those things. They seem to be a good, cheap little investment.

Fortunatly, my mom got me an earlier appointment. My MRI is now scheduled for this Wednesday (5/6), and i'll let everyone know of the results. The reason i'm trying to get this all together so quick is because I have my PA State Youth Tourney on May 30th, so time is not on my side right now. My team relies HIGHLY on me, since I am high average by about 20 pins.

Thanks for the help, guys!

MRI results are back. I will be getting a full report tomorrow suposedly, but from the quick notes that were taken, my wrist is not fractured or broken. The MRI shows there appears to be a couple slight fractures in my bones, though. Even though these are just quick notes, they suck already!
