League Arsenal On a Budget
« on: July 26, 2010, 02:58:39 PM »
Well it seems that my buddies at Lane 1 have once again decided to skip over me with a tester of the new release so I am assembling a new league arsenal for the upcoming season.

Now I have sold a bunch of my stuff already (thanks to all who have taken advantage of the deals I posted) and with the cash I have amassed thus far I think I can fill out my bag but I want to ask opinions.

Over the summer here I drilled up a blue/silver Backlash and have fallen in love with this ball. So I am going to put together a league arsenal "on the cheap" as an experiment. My goal is to cover all typical lane conditions without using a ball that retails for more than $125 in my shop. So here's the info...

Will be bowling 3 leagues this year....
2 will be in my home house....wood lanes, 38 foot oil pattern, heavy wall around the 10 board with squeaky clean backends and screaming outsides

The other is a 3 year old synthetic house that has a decent shot but I have always had to play deeper there than I was comfortable with. Oil pattern is similar but the lanes break down really fast for synthetics.

Thus far I have the following:

Blue/Silver Backlash...60x4x60 (puts pin at right edge of ring finger hole)
Black/Silver Tropical Storm....pin over ring, cg stacked under (close to a 5x4)
Hybrid Tropical Heat....as if now still undrilled
Red/Purple Backlash.....as of now still undrilled

My thinking for the above is this....

Red/Purple Backlash...weakest of the bunch when I need length with a calmer backend reaction
Blue/Silver Backlash...all around "benchmark ball" for me
Tropical Storm...for when I need a little more angularity off the spot
Hybrid Heat...used when I need a little more midlane read and arcy reaction

What else could I add? I mean the blue/silver Backlash was used all summer in our PBA league...the ball is that good.

I do have a Slingshot and a 300C sitting here too. Any opinions?
