Death Drillings?

So is it possible to drill a ball to kill it? My mom thinks so with the UI, she thinks they drilled it wrong the first time and killed the ball? Is this possible?

Possible, yes. Likely, no. I mean, in consideration to your style its possible. Just so you know though, the ball is more then likely just burning up. It is a really strong ball. How is it drilled?

I agree that layouts only effect a balls release of power... but in general, it is possible that a wrong layout could delay a balls release of power or cause the release to power to happen so soon, (because the layout was wrong that that particular bowler) that it could be ineffective for that specific bowler.

Layouts can help or hinder a specific bowler based on specific layouts.

Drilling can absolutely kill a ball.  Some years back I bought a hook monster from some unknown company.  The driller immediately drilled the weight block out of it and I had an instant boat anchor.

I really dont know how it is drilled in compliance with my PAP, but it is drilled 1L right now sanded at around 1500 grit. I'm going to polish it because that was the only time I have seen any backend to it. I guess the ball is super strong and burns up in anything less than heavy oil.

Where I bowl in league, my friend throws an old white dot(green) with medium revs, 45 degree tilt, and 13.5-14 mph and he throws it from 15 to 10 and it comes flying back. (Outside 4, it is stripped). Now I'm throwing the UI and it is right up 15. My primetime sanded(drilled to get through the heads, yet maintain strong midlane and backend), I was throwing 12th board. I'm going to see if the ball actually skids when polished then I will know for sure whether or not it is burning up.

Just a side note...If you don't know how it's drilled compared to your PAP, how do you know it's actually 1L?  It can be an L drilling, but the numbers (1,2, etc) are based upon pin to PAP distances.

So wait, is the "dead" ball the Ulimate?  If it is drilled as you say (1L), and your friend is using a white dot, I'd be shocked if that thing wasn't burning up.  I have one, and that thing definitely needs oil.

I dont know what is up. Sometimes I get a nice reaction out of it, more often I dont. As for the drilling, I asked the guy to drill it 1L. Can he tell my PAP from my track? (He did ask to see it on one of my older balls). Either the ball is starting to burn up the second it hits the lane and continues to burn up resulting in about and 2 in backend. Or...the ball is  or doesn't just fit my style. I'm going to polish and maybe it will work better. I polished it before but I dont remember throwing any other one of my balls to see how they compared. All I remember that it had a lot of backend. My hope is the ball is burning up.

I dont have a nice video camera only a digital camera which isn't too nice or clear. But if I could only show you guys a video. The Blade Reactive, that is a relatively strong ball and a guy in our league just got one and it very even and he plays with around 16 mph and medium low revs right up 12 board. With my UI, i'd be playing just right of 3 arrow. Even my V2 Clean barely starts turning. My friend however, throws and only green white dot and it outhooks any of my balls (not to mention he throws 14 mph with medium revs). My UI is not even at 800, it is at 1500 or thereabouts right now.

I was bowling one night around 12 and they just oiled the lanes, why I dont know, but my medium oil V2 Sanded (polished right now) skid right to the head pin. Thought this would be a good time to see how the UI reacted when other equipment did nothing. And still the ball did nothing, I had to point and shoot at the pocket, although it hit hard anyway. I couldn't read the ball as it was going down the lane because of the laser lights.

Thursday, If my dad doesn't take the digital camera to work, I will take a video even though it will not be nice but it will show the comparison between something like the V2 Clean.

Another thing to add, a low track release would only help the UI get down the lane better wouldn't it?

Track actually fades to the right near the bottom (iam right handed) almost an inch to the right near bottom but top stays where it is. Thursday, I will take a picture of the oil lines.sometimes the track goes over the thumb on the Clean
