Hotels in El Paso?
« on: January 12, 2015, 10:28:59 AM »
Where is everyone staying?  Any recommendations?  I'm REALLY excited for this year.  Before I've always gone with a group of friends/customers from town, good scratch bowlers, but house shots are all we have available here, so by the time they get lined up down there, the tournament is over.  This year I wasn't going to be able to go when that group goes, so I had thought I wasn't going to be able to go at all.  However, a spot on our pro shop team became available this year, and I got the nod.  All of these guys are former collegiate bowlers, and a couple were on a national championship team.  I haven't gone to Nationals before with a group who "knows the drill."  Equipment also won't be an issue this year either, I'll be able to drill and take whatever I need.  Not going until June, but super super excited already.

I think our group is going to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in downtown El Paso. We can walk to the convention center from there (there are 2 others that fit that bill as well, but I wasn't crazy about the reviews they got).

I lived in El Paso for 3 years. Not the greatest city in the US, but it's not that bad. Weather is so hot though! so you better be ready lol

If you want to stay close to where the tournament will be, I would recommend you the Camino Real at el Paso, it is really close to the convention center and it is not expensive. It is about 90, 110 dlls per room depending on when you are planning to stay. Holiday Inn Express in downtown is also a good choice. There are other options available that are not that far from the convention center. If money is not an issue, you can also stay on the Hilton Garden Inn, it is next to UTEP and fairly close to the convention center too.

I hope this helps!

We are staying at the Wyndham hotel.  Not too far from covention center, but not walking distance.  They do have a shuttle though.

Chris,
What was the cost/night at the Wyndham, if I may ask?

We've stayed @ this hotel. It's top notch, but definitely not cheap. We enjoyed our stays.
