The Hoinke humbled me...
« on: May 01, 2004, 01:11:41 AM »
I went to bowl the hoinke today, it was kind of a on a whim, 3 days ago that I decided to bowl in it.  On top of the *almost* 5 or so hours I got of sleep last night...I just wasn't prepared mentally, wasn't at my toughest physically, and DAGGONE IT if my mechanics weren't HORRIBLE lol Chuck Knoblauch.

It was interesting though, bowling singles 4 games, each game on a different pair.

It was the first time in nearly 3 years I've bowled on a tournament condition.

Balls I took with me:
Columbia Wicked
Columbia Beast Pearl w/mica
Track Flare
Ebonite Tornado TPS

I just couldn't find a shot! it was horrible for me.  On top of mechanics being out of whack and what not.

I am preparing to go back for at least doubles and team, if I decide to bowl singles again I'll register all events too I guess.

Bowling second shift was horrid.  Ball wouldn't hook the first game, the next three after the oil burned out it was erratic.  But I guess I have to get used to that.

I'll get mine

On a positive note, I'm 100% 7 pins (4) in tournament play this year!!  although I blew a 6 pin  I'm a better bowler than that.

When did you bowl?

I bowled at 11:00 Singles, and 2:30 Doubles.
The shot was inside, not deep inside but inside.
IF you were consistant with your speed you could
play down and in aroun 12 board (RH)
There was an out of bounds outside of 12 from what I seen by others ball
reactions.

I am thinking about going back myself I shot:

Singles
203 186 174 166=729=182

Doubles
183 219 177 = 579 =193

1308 Scratch for a 187 my average was 186 for the tournament, and 187 at the
end of this season.

Not to bad, I think I can do better now that I am more prepared for the
approaches.  My partner and I bowled in it a few years ago and the approaches
gave us fits.  To slick.

The Hoinke has that affect on many bowlers. Depending on the line that you were playing, the equipment you took was probably just not strong enough. When I went there (have not been there this year yet) the line was inside as was already stated. I saw a defined out of bounds area near 11 board and you could definately not the ball outside of there. My buddies that have gone this year have said the shot is the same as it was last year.

I heard many people complaining about the approaches being so slick that alot of people were falling down. Did they fix that problem?
