Hi!
I am playing around with the idea using a glove... my hands sweat a lot and I want to get as much grip on the ball as possible.
I have found three different brands now for gloves at a "local" (Germany) online shop:
Brunswick's "POWER X" (19€)
Master's Bowling glove (22€)
and
Ebonites Rect /R (24€)
are there differences or can't I go wrong with either?
Cause as you see the price is quite different.
anyone who uses a glove please give me your oppinion and if you use one of the above mentioned... even better.

Sebastian,
I don't have any experience with those, but maybe you should verify if these picture (from Buddies) are the ones you're talking about.
Brunswick Power X Bowling Glove:
http://www.buddiesproshop.com/product/2375/Brunswick_Power_X_Bowling_Glove.htm
Ebonite React/R Bowling Glove:
http://www.buddiesproshop.com/product/2390/Ebonite_ReactR_Bowling_Glove.htm
This Master I am not sure about. It looks different from the other two:
Master Products Deluxe Wrist Glove:
http://www.buddiesproshop.com/product/2407/Master_Products_Deluxe_Wrist_Glove.htm
None of them look like they have an metal or stiff backing in them. They appear to have a grippy, tacky compound in or on the palm and the fingers.

except for the DELUXE they are what I am talking about.
the master's glove is like the others... no stiffened wrist support
While I was doing some research I read many voices saying gloves are useless... so I want to add this to the discussion.

You may wish you hadn't.
Those that don't need them, say they're a waste at the least, harmful at the worst. Those that need them can't do without them.
Then there are those in the middle, who probably don't really know whether they truly need them or not. They bowl better with them, but it may have become a psychological crutch. You won't really know because they have come to believe there's a physical need for the glove.

My only piece of advice is to get one with as much real leather as possible for durability's sake, as well as the ability to absorb more perspiration from your hand.
Some are probably a synthetic material to cut costs, but our customers seem to be happier with the real leather ones.

I used the Lane 1 glove and the ones I had in years past were outstanding. Then a year ago I got two Lane 1 gloves and they didn't hold up well at all. Both tore at the wrist where the hand material meets the wrist elastic. So I went back to the Ebonite glove.

This is the type of glove I use. It has a better grip and takes care of the sweat.
The only thing you have to do is cut the finger tips of the middle and ring finger and cut off the thumb. It has the best grip and it is cheaper.

I like the Master or Storm wrist glove with the metal brace in the back. The only thing is I remove the metal. The advantage of doing this over the glove by itself is extra wrist support without immobilizing the wrist motion

thanks folks for the advice!
I will see what goes around. I had the master's Deluxe already and didn't like the wirst stabilizin at all!
I just want more grip on the ball.
Testing is neccessary I guess.

My favorite Glove I have used is this one...
http://www.buddiesproshop.com/product/2483/Storm_Xtra_Grip_Bowling_Glove_-_Black.htm
I like the tackiness (sp?). You just have to make sure you have to air dry it after every use.

If you wanted to go the cheap and easy route, just get several packs of golf gloves and cut the fingers and thumb off. It'll be cheap enough that even if they don't last that long, you're not throwing money out the door. Plus, anyone who plays golf knows that even when sweating, those golf gloves give quite a bit grip and tack.

got me the Ebonite one at the local proshop for just 2 €s more than online.... supporting the local shop

Does it help?
Well the revs are not really more (well a tad) as they claim but the feeling and the grip is better.
Am I sweating less... not really but as I said the feeling is cleaner and the grip is better.

I had a discussion about gloves with a fellow bowler who tried out a very thin golf glove - just leather, no padding, also because of sweat. It was no real success for him, because:
- the glove HAS to fit... like glove. Very tight.
- it changes span and thumb size, the ball he wanted to try it out had to be changed (new finger inserts, thumb drilled a bit more open, and with a little less span)
While it worked so so, it had not been an overall imporvement for his game, so he dropped the idea.
Personally, I tried a bowling glove of a friend (do not remember the product, it was quite thin, with silicone padding in the palm for extra hold on the ball, free finger tips and thumb, no wrist support, expensive!) and was not convinced. While it improved the hold onto the ball during the swing, I could not find any other positive thing about. It also looked quite... gay.
Additionally, I made some trials with a glove which is used for weight lifting - leather body, padded palms, free finger tips and thumb. Had similar effect as the gay rubber thing above, but I had to cut the thumb open to have a good grip at all. Had the impression that the palm paddings promoted an earlier release, but the results were not convincing, too.

I guess it's a matter of taste.
as I wrote I can do without but it feels better with right now... could be that I change my mind within the next few training sessions... could be that I love it...
Let's see.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
............. straight to the point......
There is no "real" problem just that I wanted to have more grip.
So right there you "hit the nail on the head"
as we Germans say...
the glove itself is no neccessarity if I keep using the rosin and powder... the thing is... I am getting not enough grip in the thumbhole with powder... but get not enough grip on the ball without.. or better to say it feels dirty.... oily (I wipe the ball of after each frame)
the glove evens this problem out.
well.... let's see tomorrow after training
will come back then...

I use the Ebonite React/R glove. The house I bowl at most of the time has barely functioning hand driers. If I'm somewhere with a good fan I don't need one. I like it, it's durable and allows me to keep a good grip on the ball.

glove works...
used it the whole evening...
actually played too strong... the balls became all skid flippy for me as I was getting more revs and with the oil... and my pearl particle is tad too shiny... but my solid particle worked
