I wear gloves off and on. Gloves with and without the metal brace on the back side of the glove. The gloves by ELITE bowling are the tackiest gloves out there. It helps me secure the ball in the palm of my hand and makes holding the ball more comfortable.
Naked hand bowling isn't a problem, I have better feel with more direct contact with the ball. But, after several blocks my hand can get "lazy" and I tend to lose it at the bottom. Wearing a glove helps in this situation for me. Or when I have hand/wrist soreness from a long day at work I put on a glove.
I've tried other brand gloves for many years, Storm and Ebonite to name a few... the only gloves I like so far are the ones from ELITE. The only issue with these gloves are the material where the straps goes around peels off easily. More on the glove with the metal brace.
Lastly, I don't know for sure if this is scientifically proven, but when I don't wear a glove during bowling my hand and fingers (not all) are fatigue and a bit stiff. When I do wear the glove and even bowl more than 3 games is a day, my hand isn't as tired or sore. Though, I prefer to bowl without any gloves.
