I rarely do the glow bowling thing, but last weekend I did go for a birthday celebration - my o'lady's. Though I was out there having fun, I used my time on the approach as "practice". (tourney in two weeks at the stadium) I could not see any markers down 40' and the pins had the black light over it - so visually it's not what I'm used to.
But these conditions, with the lighting, noise, loud music, and visual differences on the surface made me be focus a bit more on looking at my spot longer and put more attention on my release. I couldn't see the ball's motion going through transition, so I relied on repeating my release, speed, and finishing at the correct board at the line. And what I found easier to do, was spare shooting. I look at the lead pin or pin when going for them and the black light made the pin stand out.
I guess glow bowling has it's benefits, but the price per game at $8 is a lot.

Must be my age, but I hate Cosmic Bowling! :P

If I remember correctly it was mentioned in a USBC training video to go actually go glow/cosmic bowling to help ones focus.
Seems you may have found some usefulness to help your game.
I did it about four months ago, and I was surprised how accurate I became throughout the night, even though I could not see the dots/arrows or the range finders down lane.

A lot of ball reaction is visual, so at times you mean that not be able to feel a lot of your physical game because your eyes are getting in the way. I would love to bowl on a sport shot in the dark. Get my brain out of the way.
Added bonus: All bowling balls are black!

It took me almost a whole game to get used to the visual. But after that, I was actually getting to the pocket more often than I thought I would.
It really was like, "just get the ball the from the lay down point to the arrows and let the ball do its work."

I had no idea glow bowling would actually help someone! I always figured it would do more harm than good

People rushing up to bowl and not exercising any lane courtesy helps me to focus. Cosmic bowling is fun, too, though often it's because I like the music.

Although I don't bowl during those times, one benefit is that the lane oil shows up great under the black lights. You can learn something about friction and it's effect on ball reaction. It's like the blue tint on the PBA telecasts. The right handers are looking for "blue left and white right" for skid and hook respectively.
I suppose you can work on your focus, too, but in my opinion, that's when "focus" is easy because you have to. The more difficult time to stay focused, or mentally engaged, is when everything is normal and your mind wants to go into "auto pilot" mode and you are merely going through the motions, throwing shot after shot on easy conditions.
Having said all that, as long as I'm not concerned about anything but having fun, and don't care when I'm "jumped" on both sides of the approach, it serves it's purpose.
At the center that I help manage we have 12 lanes inside a nightclub/bar and on the weekend evenings we usually have a 90 minutes to 2 hour waiting list for one lane... While they wait they order food from our restaurant, drinks from the bar, and spend money on the other attractions. You can't argue with something that makes money and people are having fun.

I want to try glow bowling once with my Swerve and the DV8 balls I'll get soon.
I'm sure people would love watching me bowl in the dark since those balls glow in the dark xD
