Marking your PAP

I know its against the rules to put tape on your PAP in league play, but what about engraving your initials on the ball at your PAP.
Ive seen many people with their initials on their ball above their fingers, but what about on your PAP.
If thats OK could you say engrave a star on it that would fit in about a 1/2 inch circle.You know me , got to try something.
I was going to colour my weight hole, but that falls about 1 inch below my PAP.
Just curious as when I practice I use the tape and find it very benificial.

I use it when I have coaching to give me a visual check on my release.
I find that as I have a few small faults, then this visual can help me to focus on something else if my release is good.
I know its not necessary, but i do find it helpful at the moment.

well if you only use it as a reference point when you are getting coaching then why not just mark the ball with a piece of tape when you start a session.  It take 2 maybe 3 throws of the ball to get it right.
