Going adult question

I've decided that I am going adult right now, not waiting for the season to end. Right now I plan on only bowling something called "coffee club" which is like an unsanctioned tournament league every Sunday morning. I know that since it's unsanctioned, I don't need to get my adult membership card, at least not until I plan on subbing or joining a league. All I need to do to become an adult is just bowl the Coffee Club, correct? As soon as I throw a ball, I lose my junior status and become an adult bowler. Is this correct?

It's much easier to go adult as a woman than as a man.  Women have an easier time getting into the industry but men typically have longer careers but get paid less.

Wait, that's something else.

I would guess that the USBC regards this little "coffee club" thing as little more than open bowling.  How are they going to know what you do outside of their organized competition?  At that point, it's more a matter of getting caught bowling for money.

The honest thing is to go whole hog with it.  Declare yourself an adult, turn in your junior card, and start bowling adult leagues and tournaments, even unsanctioned.  I would consult with the USBC to see how that affects your collegiate athletic eligibility.

You can bowl college as collegiate/youth or collegiate/adult.  

Going adult only affects your junior status.  Once you bowl for money(non-scholarship), you lose your junior eligibility.

if its not sanctioned its technically just a group of people open bowling competitively so you can still technically be a youth until you bowl an adult sanctioned event

Sounds like there is money involved. If this is correct, then you can run the risk of losing your junior status which is what your looking to do anyway. With this season this close to the end, why not just finish off your youth season then when summer bowling leauges open up, join an adult 15 week money leauge this summer? There's only 3-6 week's left for most youth and adult leauges anyway.

It doesn't matter if it's sanctioned or not.  If you even go to moonlight bowling and win 25 cents for knocking down a colored pin, you could lose your junior eligibility.
