Tournament play as source of income
« on: September 09, 2013, 06:45:00 AM »
Made a decision recently to take bowling more serious and try and use it as an income stream. I've been a solid bowler (230+ average for a few years) and won several tournaments, so I figured I would have a shot at decent success. Soon found out the talent pool outside of my area is better than expected and frustration has set in. What is some advice to get through the frustration and is it possible to try and go "all in" too soon? Please only constructive criticism. Not trying to say I'm better than everyone or just whine because I'm not winning everything. Just looking for any advice on the experience from anyone else who has lived it.

I wouldn't give up yet.  Bowling tournaments is way more fun than drilling conventional plastic balls for ball, bag and shoe packages.

You just need to do get into the situation enough that you are comfortable being in contention and building on your score when you start well and not pressing to hold on, and being patient and grinding when the lanes start out difficult that so as they open up you move into contention.

You throw the ball well enough to make money bowling.  If it is as much as you would like to make I have no idea.  But if you go to every tournament worrying about the money you have no chance from the start.  The best guys know the money will take care of itself when you are good enough.
