Gold Membership ??
« on: September 30, 2009, 09:17:31 AM »
Does any of the older users rememmber the Gold Membership that Scott Scriver started when he owned this site 5/6 years ago ?

What I can remember is he had posted that the site needed funds to keep going. He started what he called a "Gold Membership" for a donation of either $20 or $25 then user would be helping the site and also would get discounts from him with the things he was selling at his VT site. Yes I did donate.

After a while and users donated, and there was allot of people calling names back and forth for donating/not donating, the site was sold !!

Did ANY one remember getting a offer of a  "REFUND" from Scott Scriver ?  All I can recall is there was a offer from him for a credit of what was donated, to his VT site (Tourny site).

I don't remember a general topic posted on the site about refunds to those who donated. Maybe it was communicated through private messages.

I think michelle did the Gold Membership thing. She'd remember if a refund was offered, so I'd check with her.

Yeah, I was a member lol

I don't remember anything a formal refund.
I remember about transfering your membership to another site.

It was a long time ago, I figure I blow that much on food, so
he did me a favor lol

I was one who held Gulled Member status...never got an offer for an actual refund.  I vaguely recall there was an offer of a credit to be applied towards the VT shenanigans (I have never been a fan of ANY event where all of the event is not in the same facility).

Wow, really now -- 6 years later?

Personally, I am done fighting this.  People will make their own opinions, and others will force their opinions down each others throat.

And people wonder why I sold this site.

Yes I was a member. This subject came up at another site, and it was stated that refunds were given to all that had joined and got the Gold Membership. I  just never remembered any thing about an offer for a refund, just a offer to give credit at VT.

It''s not about getting a refund now this late, and I have never asked for one this late, it''s about a statement  saying that refunds to every one, and I dont beleive he did, at least in my case.

Yes the money is gone and I dont worry about that now. It''s all about(to me) finding out what happened to others here, (did they all get refunds like what was stated) .

I am not ASKING for a REFUND NOW !!!  Just want to know what happened to others who may of joined or may remember some thing.

I know some that I talked to got refunds.  Why do you ask?  That was like 6 years and 3 owners ago.  Were you a Gold Member pnj?

The question was raised and some answered.

Au contraire...it seems to still nip at your inner ethos else you would not have poked your head in here to give a response, especially as lame as it was.

The real question people have is why you wanted people to pony up only to disappear via sale as quickly as transpired.  Quite frankly, it DID smack of fraudulent inducement, especially when the only 'refunds' were to another site you operated.

Never a gold member but I do miss the blue screen that this site use to have. As for VT I had a good experience with it back in the day and won some money and got a check in a timely manner.

Michelle --

You're right.  It does get to me.  It hurts.  But I am not looking for sympathy as I know I won't get any from this group.

I know some people construe what I did as fraud and after 6 years, there is nothing that is going to change their mind.

I have apologized up and down.  I tried to rectify the situation back then with what I thought was a good idea.  Obviously, it was not...and I freely admit that.

Yes, most were offered a credit on another site I have.  Some were issued a check.  However, it didn't matter what I did, people were going to run my name thru the mud regardless.

Certain people have a personal vendetta against me.  And as I stated to the person who started this post, I have learned that I cannot possibly make everyone happy.  All I can do is post my side of the story and let those that have a mind of their own, make their own opinion and not listen to those who try to shove their opinions down their throats.  Those that are "followers" and let others opinions influence their thoughts, well, I wish them luck in life.

Anyhow, like I said, I am done fighting this issue.  I have publically apologized MANY times over the past 6 years, tried to amend relationships and still this issue pops up.

Did I make a mistake?  Yes.
Do I regret it?  Yes.
Would I do it again?  No.
Can I take it back?  No.

I would like to meet the person who has not made a mistake in their life.  They can probably teach us all a lesson here.

What else can I say?

I forgot to answer this, which deserves an answer:

It definately wasn't intended.  When we started the membership drive, there were no talks or even thoughts of selling at that point.  However, not long afterwords we were approached by someone who wanted it and offered an amount we were willing to let it go for.

While I admit the timing of it SUCKED, again, we had no idea it was going to sell when we started the membership drive.

With the reference to some actually getting a check, what SHOULD have happened is for EVERYONE who gave you the $25 right before the sale to at least have had the OPTION of receiving a check.  The credit to another site as the only option being offered was not one that sat well with many people (myself included)...but for the amount in question, it was not worth pursuing and was something that was easier to simply chalk up as a lesson learned (and one that has hurt EVERY web forum since that time).

Yep -- your absolutely correct.

Mistake made, lesson learned.  It hasn't happened since, and it won't happen again.

I don't know what else to say.
