I use a glove.  I started using it b/c I kept tearing up the tip of my index finger.  I tried a variety of the protection tape without much relief.  I started using the "finger tips" from staples but they started flying off.  So, I began using the glove with the finger tip inside it.

I feel like the glove reduces feel and my rev rate.  I'm going to stop using the glove and see if I can find another way to stop tearing up my finger tip.

I use one. I notice no difference in my rev rate. I do notice my fingers are in much better shape. Reason I started wearing one was primarily because the back of my hand sweats and I needed something to wick the moisture away.

Best thing to do is order them in bulk off eBay. Depending on which model you get, you'll use them anywhere from 1-3 months each, depending on how many times you bowl, and that can get expensive. The ones made of real cabretta leather are better than the synthetics, because the synthetics are typically just a thin layer of grippy material affixed to a cotton or cotton-poly cloth glove underneath. When the synthetic stuff wears off, it's like bowling with a cotton sock on your fingers and you'll be throwing the ball backwards into the parking lot if you're not careful.

If you use inserts, prepare to go up 1-3 sizes. I went from 3 and 23 to 13 and 25.

I've used a golf glove before... It really helps to stop the club twisting in your hand at the point of impact. Be careful though, if you grip the club too tightly, you'll wear the glove away quickly and have to buy a few a year.

do you find the gloves with no thumb or do you cut it off?

You have to cut them off yourself, and it's not hard. Just put the glove on, mark where you want to cut it with a pen, and then cut along that line. After you've done a few of them you won't have to draw the line anymore.

Ebonite used to make a product called a ProTector, which was a made-specifically-for-bowling glove. It was better than a golf glove in that it had Velcro strips around the middle and ring fingers so you could cinch them up (if you buy a glove that is too loose, the glove itself will pull away from your fingers at release, which you don't want). The thumb was already cut out. But the glove itself was a synthetic overlay, so it tore up in a month or two on the fingertips.

Fitting tip: Get a glove that is EXTREMELY tight on your hand, even if you have to step down in sizes. I wear a men's large on the golf course but a men's cadet large or even a men's medium for bowling.

I started using a glove about mid season and its made a world of difference for me. Not only do i get more on the ball, my grip feels better as i feel im not losing the ball at bottom anymore. Even without a glove and regular grips, my hand sweats and after a game or so, i still lose it. Ive tried rosin but doesnt help me so i decided to try a golf glove. I left my grips in the ball to and i love it. i actually pm'd Jeff Carter to see what kind of glove he uses on tour cause i want to do some regionals this coming season.

You pretty much have to use Etonic gloves for regionals. They're probably the only company that makes golf gloves that is PBA-registered unless I'm forgetting someone.

I use Maxfli gloves, as they seem to last longer, but if I bowl a regional I'll find something Etonic makes.

Do the golf gloves seriously have to be pba registered to be used in competition???

Why do you think two exempt bowlers that use golf gloves, Pete Weber and Jeff Carter, are on staff with Etonic?
