how many have tourney arsenals?

How many of you have a different arsenal for tourney's?  

I bowl in a league that uses 4 difficult patterns thru out the season.  Well each of these patterns has a good amount of oil.  So a lot of my strong equipment get's a lot of use.

Now every tourney i've been too always has the same thing.  Screaming back ends and not much oil.  Even when the lanes are fresh the oil is not very heavy.  I recently went to a tourney and brought 6 balls with.  I only had a good look with one of the balls in my arsenal because the lanes broke down so fast and the back ends were flying.  My strong equipment was useless.  I can now understand the need for a different arsenal of balls for tourney's.

I don't necessarily have a tournament arsenal, but I have a wide array of balls, most of which I know will not work on my house patterns due to insufficient volumes of oil or house patterns shorter in distance.  In most cases, my newest releases and higher powered equipment only sees the light of day in tournaments or a league with a tougher pattern.  It's that way mainly because a good tournament will pretty much have a ton of head oil so the pattern holds up through 8+ hours of bowling and have enough volume up front to warrant the use for these steroid coverstocks.

Kinda funny how I brought up this same topic a few months back when you said your 4 different prep Dooms would cover just about everything you'd see.  Sometimes all it takes is that one different "look" with a certain type of ball that'll give you that extra nod to blow everyone away.

I pretty much agree with the posters above me. I don't have a specific arsenal for tournaments because all tournaments have different conditions, but I couldn't imagine ever trying to use one of my high-range balls (I.E. No Mercy or Shift) in my leagues. Typically I only bring 3 balls to league and 5 for tournaments because I always bring me spare ball.

I have a tourney arsenal.  Mainly because my regular house tends to eat balls up and really no backend to speak of.  No margin for error on my house shots.  So i collect about 4 balls for tourneys to cover all conditions and diffrent drillings on them.ps i try not to tie up alot of money for my house ball because of the harsh punishment it gets there

my tourny arsenal is just all my balls so i can cover a wide variety of lane conditions. my regular THS league arsenal is usually 3 balls plus spare and my tourny is like 6-7 balls plus spare

I've come to the point where I do have a little different arsenal for tournaments, and it is pretty much just the higher end releases. I can't throw anything above my Thunderstruck Pearl after about the first game or so of league.   I save the real good stuff (Shift, Domination, Passion) for tournaments, as well as my 6 ball bag.  Used to take the 6 baller everywhere, league, practice, everything.....now I save it just for tournaments, it's a great bag, and using it less will help it last longer as 6 ballers aren't cheap.  I take a 3 ball roller and an add on, or a two ball tote to league now.

What sucks is I didn't have 1 DOOM with me at the tourney.  I was kicking myself because of that.  I should have stuck with my all DOOM arsenal. lol

i use the same 7 balls( including plastic )for leagues and tournaments. it all depends on the lane surface, the oil pattern, and my plan of attack.

Got my best 9 set aside for 'away from home' duties from now and its a Free for all on leauge night for the rest(whichever 3  feel the best at that moment in time plus the blue dot!!)

I do not have a special tournament arsenal, but I have some core balls around which I pack my bag and create a complementary bag for the conditions I expect. This way, I have some basic first drill balls I like to use, and end up with some all-time-favorites as a back-up.

Additionally, there are some balls left whcih I will hardly use in tournament, rather just for training or as seasonal balls (i. e. my winter bag differs much from my summer bag, due to higher grip levels through temperature and humidity and the centers' tendency to apply less oil between April and September because no official league play takes place, only some single tournament events).

IMO, an exclusive tourney arsenal does not make much sense to me, because I like to use those balls in tournament I frequently play in training, for the "feel" and experience with the pieces. I do not like the idea to run into a competitive situation, only to find myself surprised by a strange ball recation I was not able to anticipate. If you use these tourney balls frequently (every other week or so), this might not matter that much, but for me and my "official" game number (about 70 this season) it would not be sensible. Even though I know players who "save" some of their balls for these occasions - but not a whole arsenal.
