Goliath or GP2
« on: May 12, 2005, 07:04:45 AM »
Alright one more time guys. My two favorite ball companies, Track and Brunswick. I heard Brunswick is far ahead of everybody when it comes to particle equipment. If thats still the case, i'll just get a Goliath. I did have the Blue azure and Violet Zone. Both good bowlingballs, but i've been hearing that there is nothing better out right now then the GP2 for heavy/flood type conditions. I know what ball might work best for my style but I would like to hear what you guys think. Track guys like GP2, Brunswick guys like Goliath naturally. I want to hear your pros and cons. I'll check out what your style is in your profile. If you don't have one let me know what it is.
I'm a tweener with good revs and average speed, high track and not much axis tilt. I probably won't get to use it much but just in case, I want to make as best decision as I can on what ball to choose. Thanks guys/gals

In my opinion, with mass bias technology and the ability to fine tune the reaction the asymmetric cores can give you by moving the mass bias, the GP2 would be a better choice. It has handled everything I have seen so far with few problems, thus the reason why I have 3 and plan on adding at least 1-2 more before next year starts. Also, anyone will tell you asymmetric cores are jumpier off the corner then symmetrics, as they roll smoother. If you are truly looking for a ball to play on the Exxon Valdez slick, you will not be disappointed with the GP2.

Don't have either ball.  I do have a Nemesis and I love it.  I don't really see heavy oil anymore, but the Nemesis is great on fresh conditions.

If you aren't going to use it very often, I would say save the $50 and get Goliath.  If money isn't a big deal, then maybe get the GP2 - it would definately look cooler rolling down the lane.  Also heard that AMF Triumph TNT is a monster in oil too, so maybe that's another option.

I don't have a whole lot of revs, and I've haven't had much success with asymmetric cores, so I'm probably a little bias to the TNT or Goliath since they are symmetric cores.

Not sure who you have been talking to, but that is not true. I have 2 particle balls. The Brunswick Impulse Zone and the Track GP2. The GP2 is one of the most versatile and strongest balls I have ever had. To sum it up, the GP2 works great and the Impulse Zone doesn't work at all.

You could save $50 and get the Goliath, that is true. It does work well in oil.

The reason to SPEND the extra $50 is that the GP2 will not track up as fast or need resurfaced as often. Brunswick coverstocks, particularly particle equipment track up quickly and do not hold up over time.

I've had both balls....the Goliath was good for about 30 games then I had to alter the coverstock with scotchbrite to get a decent reaction out of it...the GP2 on the other hand is a monster and I haven't had to do a thing to it going on 50 games.....do yourself a favor spend the extra bucks and get the GP2
