Whats a pretty good ball for heavy oil conditions that I can start with and won't have it kill my pocket book so I can upgrade again soon?

Brunswick Swamp Monster.  As a mid-priced heavy oil ball, I don't think you can beat it.

Mine is a Hyde with a big pin-out and dulled.  Works pretty well, not a lot of money either.

Visionary's Burgundy Gryphon would be a great med/heavy oil ball.  It's not too expensive either.

columbia WOW is the best by far, will hit harder, and has a better back end move for a heavy oil ball than any other medium priced ball on the market.

you won't have to upgrade from this ball!!
