I must make comments about 2 balls mentioned here for dry lanes, one positive and one negative.
1. The Avalanche Slide - one person said it was too flippy for dry lanes. I have to differ with this opinion and suggest that this might have happened for one of 2 possible reasons. A. His release may make balls more flippy than average and, B, he might have drilled it too strongly. I say this because of 3 factors I have seen with my use of my Slide.
a) I drilled mine with the pin above the center of the bridge and the CG kicked out slightly from the center of the grip, winding up with a 5.5" x 4" drilling with the pin 3" above the midline.
b) my release tends to make balls appear and act slightly more flippy than designed. (too many revs compared to ball speed)
c) My Slide on the driest of "oil patterns" never acts flippy at all.
I have to believe, based on the above that drilling properly for your release and for the amount of oil faced, will result in a very usable dry lanes ball without flippy, uncontrollable tendencies. Ball reaction of this Slide allows a true backend, a very slightly defined breakpoint, as compared to a similarly drilled Slingshot which will curve all the way, so very gently and have almost not discernible breakpoint.
2. The Track 300C
Both a friend and his wife have drilled one of these TWICE each and each one was almost flippy on the same amount of oil or "oil pattern" (The words 'oil pattern' are in quotes because the amount of oil we all see in this same house AFTER they freshly oil the lanes is a major joke.) . Both my friend with a rev rate around 300-350 rpms, and a ball sped of 15 mph at the pins and his wife, with a much lower ball speed and a much lower rev rate, have both seen, even with pin distances of 5" - 5.5" from PAP extremely flippy and very uncomtrollable breakpoint and ball reactions from their 300Cs. I use the plural because he has tried one ball with two drillings and several surfaces and she has tried 2 different 300Cs with 3 different drillings.
The 300C is much stronger than my AND his Slingshot, at least 5 boards with his feet and that's a lot.
