Sledge Hammer! omg
« on: October 29, 2008, 01:49:17 PM »
i dont really believe that such an old ball can still hit like a truck!

for most of u who dont know, i bowl on very sh!tty lanes, short light pattern, with open play carrydown. best bowlers in my house are lefties whos best average are not higher than 225

ok, coming back to the Sledge Hammer, bowled 6 games of practice before friends asked me to bowl with then for some sweeps, then we proceeded to bowl 9 games in a row, in which i moved left about a good 20 boards. What is more amazing is that, i never hard to change ball for first shot, carried from right to left, unbelievable!

9 games i bowled 2020, my new highest series for 9 games, nothing super, but its my best so far

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

Yeah, kind of makes you rethink this trend towards the "latest, greatest ball ever" trend we have now, doesn't it?

All these "super soaker" coverstocks that die in a hundred games, are they REALLY necessary? I don't think so.

Good luck with the sledgehammer, they really were great balls that got a bit overlooked becauseof the popularity of the 3-D offset hammers.

i am finding my el nino 2000 has practically the exact same hook shape as my cell, both drilled pretty close to the same.  i can stand in the same spot, hit the same target at the arrows and hit flush pocket.  the only difference ive seen maybe is the el nino pushes a few feet further downlane before making its move.  only thing i can think of is the el nino is 16# the cell is 15#, but even then the speed difference isnt that much.

I've started to realize that older is better for me.  Either older, or cheap.  The lower end a piece seems to be, the better it works out for me.

I just recently found an old Ebonite Grey Wolf Pearl on eBay NIB can't wait til it arrives to I can drill it up

Down and In here I come lol.

I am the same way I tend to roll old stuff heck I found an old purple sumo, purple rhino pro and have an old gold rhino pro and prefer them all over my gravity shift, green vibe, the cell I threw and my awesome hook. However I still love my xxxl. I also should be getting me a NIB nail and NIB red pearl hammer.

Also that purple rhino hits harder than anything I own when it flips its coming hard and will carry on most shots.

Spiderball,

Don't be too surprised when you try the grey wolf. It may not be as "down and in" as you might think.  A friend of mine had the entire wolf series of balls, back when they had just come out, and the grey wolf was just about his favorite. He would hook that thing about 20 boards at times, not a weak ball by any means.

Thanks for the heads up.  My buddy had the Red Wolf, and he couldn't score with it.  I used it and did okay, but it was drilled righty and I am a lefty.  I will probably have a decently weak drilling put on it, and hope that it can at least get down the lane before making a turn.  I don't mind playing small swings, but when I have to hook the lane...no one wants to see that mess

Just did that. It's not a medium oil ball any longer!
Lots of length and still LOTS of backend on light to medium-light oil.
OH, and Better not hit any carrydown.

Waiting to redrill its twin, the Blue Wolf!

Is it really that they are better or is it because they have lost a little reaction that they blend out an overreactive wet dry??

Ebonite warns against reenergizing balls that are working well on jumpy patterns!
