PBA pattern tips
« on: June 27, 2009, 08:41:32 AM »
for those guys that have bowled on PBA experience leagues and have little techniques or tips that they use to get a little bit of an edge this is where you can share them.

little tips may include go more direct play around 5 if possible use higher axis rotation come up the back a bit more stand inside and throw out use a pearl ball use the weakest ball you have and play so and so

Be nice to the ball at the bottom of the swing particularly on Cheetah, Viper, and Chameleon these patterns will hook plenty with out you trying to make it hook more.

Try to play outside to start on Viper their is not much oil in the middle of the lane and it can be very picky inside.

Control drillings for Chameleon if you get inside it will hook. I use MoJave, Ultra Radical Pro, and Awesome Finish all set up for Control, and I still START playing inside of 3rd arrow.

Cheetah ugh good luck I have either score well or terrible and very little in between.

Shark don't be afraid to move left on this pattern a strong ball will hook! Be ready to move left fast when the track starts to go, don't stay in one spot to long

Scorpion also inside if you turn the ball alot but you can play  it up if you can find a good line. For me the BP never changes just the angle I use to get their,

It would be closer to the pocket, somewhere around 13th board.

The one thing PBA patterns have taught me is do NOT, and I repeat, do NOT be afraid to make gigantic moves left and/or right.  Make a move, be confident and work with it.  If straight up five gives you no room, try moving 10 boards with your feet and 5 with your eyes, it'll give you a similar breakpoint and see if there's some more mistake area.

And don't get caught in the mind set that each lane must play the same, I've been on pairs where the right lane is hooking at my feet and the left lane is like bowling on ice.

And have fun!  Good luck and let us know how it goes.

One Word: Spares

Get your spares cause your not going to strike as much

Shark is long but still playable in the middle, i agree with the tip to not be afraid to get left on it

cheetah is insanity dry but to spotty to swing so get use to playing the gutter

It is extemely important which lane surface you are on.  The patterns played differewntly depending on the surface.
