Thursday night adventure
« on: April 13, 2007, 05:10:21 PM »
Just gotta get this out of my system it is driving my mad. What do you guys think of this?

I am slotted to bowl against one of the best bowlers in the city (not my hometown I travel 45 minutes to bowl at this house so my friends and I are the new guys) I walk through the door and a waitress promptly informs me that this guy has been talking trash about me. We start bowling we are all fired up good yelling and getting a real postive attitude going. Well we were quite loud, which is our usual. We took this other team to school pretty good I beat this ''HotShot'' 2 out of 3 games and seris I tell him this very seriously '' I got more next week'' He goes off on us and me with this '' Start acting like a human being out there quit yelling and moving around'' Boy this from a college bowler who should be used to this stuff, yelling was no big deal the first time I was matched against and he beat me cause I wasn't shooting spares very well then all the yelling and stuff my team does was fine now that he got whipped he is mad about it.

Anyway there is the Thursday night prick for you, don't get me wrong he is a good bowler but why are not allowed to cheer cause the team is subbing for isn't beating us? No one will even let this guy bowl with him full time casue no one can stand him that many weeks. I thought leagues were supposed to be fun? I thought that was the idea at the end of the night to have a good time? thats what we did and got bad mouthed and yelled at for it.

Crap like this makes me want to get my PBA card and be done with leagues.

when bowling against a-youknowwhats, I find it best not to trash talk.  Just beat the crap out of them during the game.  Let your scores speak for themselves.  Trashtalking is only fun for the other guy if he gets under your skin.  If you ignore his attitude, and just beat them, they tend to keep their traps shut in the future.

It's one thing if it's good nature ribbing between friends, but if the good nature isn't there, don't participate in the BS.

Start yelling and screaming and acting like a fool on the tour every time you throw a good game or beat an opponent and see where that gets you.

That kind of behavior is OK in a friendly pot game where every one kind of knows every one, but your description sounds kind of silly for a regular league night.  Sure you should be able to have some fun, but if I'm reading your post right, I'd assume your team would annoy a lot of people.  But like you said, if they beat you, they suffer in silence.  If you beat them, they get annoyed more and faster and will often let you know about it.

I think you didn't go far enough. You should yell and scream and get into it. then go up to your opponent's table, turn around, and let some gas loose!

If you are being so loud that bowlers on another pair are disturbed, then quiet down.  My league has one team that thinks yelling and slapping their hands after every shot is cool.  They have no respect for the people bowling on the next pair, who are midway thru their approach when they start yelling and carrying on.  Nobody else is doing it to you, don't do it to them.  A little common courtesy goes a long way.

If you come in and being informed that a other trash talking against you. Then inform that one to bring it on and see what you got.Or get him in a best of three match and beat him only then he will learn to keep his mouth shut.If he told me to like what you mention I will say if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen or shoe is on the other foot now wear it.I know a person that he thinks that he know it all-that he mention the bad games. If my friend is that good then he should adjust. You find some people like that.I see no harm in what you did.You give it back to him in a way of letting the ball do the talking.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

To all, we were showing courtesy to bowlers all around us as usual. The league is a little on the loud end as far scratch leagues I have bowled in. We were no louder than any other team in the place. A little history about this dude. The first time I bowled against him early in the season he beat me and that night we were doing the same thing as last thursday but he won and he was cool about it we shook hands when we got done and I congratulated him on good bowling I think he shot 700+ that night which is very good for the house. I am courteous to all around me and I apologize when I distract someone, but this guy was just mad cause he lost to the 23 year old ''kid'' that is new in the house, he is not used to having people younger than him come in and go shot for shot with him.
