wondering about virtual tornament

i was wondering for people out there that do virtual tournament if it is really worth it looked at the web site and doesnt seem all that good for a guy like me i average 225 so 90 percent of my series are 650plus doesnt seem like a good tourny for scratch let me know what people think about it

i've done a couple (during my summer league) been thinking of some for the "real" season (not experimenting)

It is a little diff now the ave. are broken up into 3 diff. groups.  So you would be only competing against those with 200 ave and above.

I can find enough money leagues and tournaments where all competitors are on the same lane conditions in my area.
I never understood the Virtual concept where you can choose the series to use and not have any criteria other than sanctioned scratch or handicap.

A friend of mine, who is a very good right handed bowler, bowls in a trio league with two lefty teammates.They get 15 minutes of warm up and he works in his shot and shoots lights out for three games. Not many righties play his line so most nights his shot remains unchanged the entire set. He bowls other leagues but he could choose this one for his 'official' score.
If you are in a typical 5 man team league and catch him in a Virtual, a bowler of his skill level (230+) will have a big advantage over you.
I don't know how many places they pay but I don't bowl for second and I WOULD NOT put my ducats up against this guy under those conditions.I'm sure you will find many bowlers with stories similar to his across the country. All eligible and seriously looking for donators.
Just my opinion though.

yea i understand that i bowl in a late three person team i can use that i get the same shot the whole not which i average 230 in but looking at it doesnt seem like the pay out is all that great and looking at the handicap stuff is weird to i saw a guy 218 ave but he got like 60 pins any more thoughts

don't waste your money that crap.

You need to report your $5 wining to the IRS that if you win.

your odds are better if you take that money and play online poker turny.

forgot about the claiming your winnings part... that does bite..

You only claim when you request to be paid, so if you use the winnings to buy from bowlingball.com do you still have to report?

or did they pull that option

That 60 pins of handicap is for the entire series, not per game.  Handicap is 90% of the highest entering average.  There''s different divisions so a 180 bowler won''t be getting a load of handicap just because a 230 average bowler entered.  Payout is a 1:5 ratio.  Looking at some past tournaments if you''re in top 5 you have a good chance of winning around $100(give or take within $10).  I think a lot of people enter plenty of brackets and winning a good majority of those can add up.  Plus the other pots to get into.  It''s not something where you''ll make a bunch of money but I think a lot of people do it just to make a little extra here and there and for fun more or less.

I do believe you have to fill out some tax form before you''re able to have any of your earnings cashed out.  What I don''t know is if that''s a one-time only thing or if you have to fill that out each time you want to cash out.  I don''t know exactly how the tax stuff works.
