Lower Back Problems....
« on: April 05, 2008, 06:04:02 AM »
Anyone have in lower back problems, i;ve been to the chiropracter a couple times,
and its helped a little bit. My psyatic nerve kind of went haywire on me, and from time to time, my sliding leg will go numb and it will throw my timing off.
I have an 8 game qualifying tournament, just wondering if anyone has a quick rememdy to take the pain away briefly?
Thanks ahead of time

Well I have 3 pinched nerves in my back lower, mid and upper. For me the best way to avoid pain is to stand up straight and bend at the waist and touch your toes or go that direction. Its will stretch the back and helps me. I also put one foot up on a seat and lean forward then switch sides during bowling if it starts hurting and it relieves it enough to bowl.

have you asked about exercises from your chiropractor?

im also 140 lbs and throw 15lbs. my back hurts me if I lay in bed too long or just dont stretch out... but ive never had it bad enough to cause numbness... just pain.

I had horrible lower back pains, I took 2 years off bowling and went to the gym and got a 6 pack. my doctor said a stronger core will help you take stress off your back.

bowling problem free ever since.

Concur...Another thing that helped me was changing vehicles.  I'm 6'5" and used to drive a Honda Accord.  Was not good on my back bending down and turning all the time to get in the car.  I now drive a Honda Pilot and can just slide in.  Night and day.  I used to go to the chiro at least once a month, now I only go if my neck gets really stiff, maybe 3x a year...

you either have to big of a gut or your abs (core) are not strong. This was my dilemma, lost 30 lbs. and did a lot of core strength now i don't feel any lower back pain and my leg doesn't go numb anymore.

No I dont have a weight issue. I'm 185 with a 15LB ball but mine comes from a crooked spine which was passed on from my dad.

ABsolutely stay away from the Chiropractor. Go to a specialist and get your back evaluated. Most likely you need to take about two months away from bowling and any other strenous activity. The back needs time to heal, it is a very delegate part of the body!

If you have a sit down job, get a lumbar support.

I have a slipped disk (herniated disk) in my lower back (lumbar spine) and will act up on my when i do twisting motions and causes numbness in my right foot.  Feeling numbness in one leg is a sign of a slipped disk (both legs is ok, 1 leg is bad), if you do find out or suspect it is a slipped disk start working on your abs... ALOT doing asymmetric things.

If you have any more questions on this message me
