Resurfacing balls
« on: September 18, 2008, 03:39:54 AM »
Is it really worth while to resurface old bowling balls that have over 300 games? I understand that they will not be exactly like new after resurfacing but can they be used for a less demanding oil condition like for exemple can a high performance ball, that was used for heavy oil, be resurfaced to perform successfully on light oil condition?

I have resurfaced a ball that has over 700 games on it and was soon going to be retired.  My buddy got a spinner, and that was the first ball that I resurfaced.  I pulled it out on a third game of a set which didn't have 2 good games to start, so my expectations weren't that high.  Needless to say, the magic in the ball was back, and it fit into a place in my arsenal at the bottom when the lanes are breaking down.

So IMO yes, resurface it, you may be surprised with the results.

I resurface at least once a year depending upon how much I bowl.  I have several balls within my arsenal that have over 2000 games on them and still just as strong as they were.  Its all in ball maintence of cleaning.

I touch up my equipment every other week to keep my shot consistent.
