Put May 14-15 on your calendar...if you care
« on: January 26, 2005, 06:03:55 AM »
Yes I said care, not dare...

May 14-15 at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park will be the 1st MichiganBowling.com Sport Championship tournament.  This event is open to all ABC/WIBC/USBC sanctioned bowlers.

Although the center is 94 lanes, we only have 20 lanes.  So we will have 3 qualifying squads limited to 60 bowlers per sqaud, on Saturday May 14.  Details are still being worked out.  Match play on Sunday for the top 1 in 5, but we'll try to pay top 1 in 4.  Flyer and website coming soon.

$80 will be the entry fee and we will pay at least $1500 if we get 100 entries.

This championship event will be a celebration of the return of bowling as a competitive sport.  We are asking all of those that are interested in seeing this happen, please come and bowl and show your support.  We will have jackpots, brackets, and sweepers for those that want to truly bowl for some cash.  I am extremely confident that we will get over 100 bowlers for this event.

For now, if you are interested in bowling in this event, please email me at supersport@michiganbowling.com and provide me with a valid email address and/or regular address where I can get in touch with you.  If you are interested in promoting this event in your area, let me know that as well.

This tournament is all about proving to the world that competitive bowling is NOT dead, and that there are many of us who still care and believe that our sport can be revived and in fact IS being revived.

Feel free to post here also to show your support, whether you can make it to the tournament or not.

Thanks!

As long as you are a sanctioned adult bowler and not also known as Wicked, then yes you can bowl as long as you have $80.

Bob, where are you from?

Awww, sorry Mumzie.  Best of luck in the Queens though!

I have a feeling you're going to see tourneys like this one pop up in other places...

Rev-O,
Allen Park is about 20 minutes (if that) from Detroit,...fairly close to Dearborn....pull up Allen Park Michigan on a map from yahoo, then explode the map...

Yikes xman, you live in Portage?  I must know you from my tournaments!  Have you bowled them before?  You know I have one at Airway on Feb. 13, right?

Thanks for the replies all.  I love the idea of getting Magic Carpet to come up and maybe do some coaching for the days leading up to the tourney.  Perhaps a sport bowling seminar would be cool too.  I'll work on some good deals for hotel rates for everybody.

Thanks for helping out Jeff!!!  I miss you guys bowling in my tourneys.  We'll have to go practice again sometime!

Anybody else coming to the tourney?

Anybody else out there?  I'd really like to meet more of the BR group, and this would be a nice opportunity to do this.  Not to mention it's going to be an awesome tournament with something-for-everybody sweepers!
