Grip pressure
« on: March 06, 2010, 10:14:52 AM »
Lately I 've been working on a free swing and it feels a lot better than before. I still feel that there is room for improvement which leads me to this subject. Does less grip pressure free your armswing? How can I have less grip pressure? What else can free the arm up?

I feel bad for the bowler''s defenceless equipement when the bowler is not bowling up to par. . . .don''t you?

Proper fit will allow the ball to stay on your hand without gripping it.

The angles of the thumb and fingers in relation to your span and hand is what keeps the ball on your hand.. The ball should hang onto your thumb until the weight of the ball is  fully transferred to your fingers. Once this happens the ball should come off your thumb nice and easy..

You're reply had me thinking about the way Tommy Jones puts his thumb then fingers into the ball. Even though he gets a handful, he probably feels nothing at the bottom

It is all timing the people that really hit up and look like they rip the cover off the ball probably put way more effort and strength into it than they have to.

There is a local bowler around here that is up there in revs compared to any bowler but he is effortless at the bottom.. or so it seems..
