"Gripping it" means squeezeing the ball with your hand. this uses muscles and prohibits a free armswing.

"Gripping" the ball means holding on to a bowling ball tight.

"Griping" at the ball means giving it good stiff talking too!  Or complaining to it about it's behavior.  As in "Griping" at your wife.

Two different tasks both fun.

Griping is more fun!

LOL, I've been known to give my balls a good old fashioned gripe up to two or three times in an evening!

Long story short.

My thumb chanegs sizes evey other frame it seams. I use to hev my hole drilled big and use tape.

now I have an Oval thumb and maybe use a pcs of tape every few weeks.

I also stopped squeezeing the ball as much.

squeezing = flatten thumb, making it oval. oval + round hole equal sticking.

so give an oval a try. you may still need tape but a hole lot less.

Warrior Eng -- Oversize your thumb hole a little (~1/16") and put either a 3/16" Thumbillow or a Magic Carpet in the back of the hole, and if needed a piece of white grip tape in the front.  --  JohnP

Hold the ball like you are holding a baby bird in your hand through the whole swing (one you don't want to kill ) and release. Resist the need to squeeze the ball as it nears the bottom of the swing in both directions. If you squeeze the ball then you have to tell yourself to let go of the ball. You will not do that the same every time. If you read through the tips on my website I talk about this a lot.
