Grips or No Grips for more forward roll?
« on: April 20, 2005, 09:39:53 AM »
Yea, another one of those grips vs no grips questions. Being a smaller guy with a slow speed and med revs I find it that most of the time forward roll will hook a lot smoother off the dry and hit much harder for me than side roll will. Don't know why but I use forward roll much better than side roll, perhaps because I like to play it straight? Anyway I have been a grip user ever since I started to hook the ball, but after throwing a friends ball(with just about my exact hand size)with no grips the ball came off my hand quite smooth and once I sort of got use to it I really wasn't losing much hand which surprised me. Do you guys think that using no grips would possibly help me with my want for more forward roll?

WEll, I have no idea, since if you actually know how to change hand positions, grips/no grips shouldn't affect side/forward roll at all.  But if like you say, your revs were around the same, but it came off cleaner, I'd say go no grips anyways.  Maybe it'd help you get forward roll.
