Grips question
« on: July 17, 2008, 04:40:29 PM »
How tight should the grips be? I can't put my middle finger past the first knuckle  but with my ring finger I can go right past it all the way until my finger touches the bottom of the hole. My grips sizes are 5 1/2 and 5, but have noticed that a lot of people have their ring finger grip multiple sizes smaller. What do you think?

i think its all about feel. for me i like them to be somewhat tight but still be able to easily get my finger in there and it not hurt, usually cant get them in much further than the first knuckle.

Sounds like the ringfinger grip is too big or the drilled hole is too big..

How did the grips fit when you tried them on your fingers before putting them in the ball?

A good fit is IMHO if you are able to lift the ball when you just insert the fingers into the ball up to your 1st knuckle (and on a fingertip ball, you should not be able to squeeze the finger much deeper than that), just like preparing a normal shot, and bend them a little. With a snug fit you should be able to lift the ball without a problem, even swing it slightly (e. g. for a 4mph shot ).

Many players I know have different sizes for ring and middle finger - both should fit the respective finger for an even feel and grip.

Whatever feels most comfortable to you is the sizes you should be using.  Ideally, you should be able to just get slightly past the first knuckle in.

But I would have them fit both fingers the same way.  It sounds like your ring finger insert is too large.

I want my grips just tight... so I can go in to the first joint... but not further and have a snug tight feeling without squeazing. That'S the ideal imho
