While on out way back from State, my wife and I contemplated the actions of many during the plaing of the National Anthem. Many were walking around, talking, scratching their butts, getting out gear, and NOT placing their hand over their hearts, WHICH is appropriate. When I was a kid, my dad had me convinced that you could be arrested for talking or disrespecting the National Anthem ( I later learned that it was a ploy to scare me into behaving during it). I later joined the Marines, where I learned a whole different level of respect for our Anthem, and that is why it really irks me to see people NOT PLACING THEIR HAND OVER THEIR HEART. It really saddened us to see the really obvious acts that showed lack of respect or no respect; I mean the tournament director had to remind some to remove their caps fot the Anthem, and they were inside. I mean they were inside wear caps should NOT be worn anyways, yet many have to be reminded, BUT NOT placing your hand over the heart is something that everyone, that went to school in the US, learned.
