particle or reactive?
« on: January 10, 2004, 05:48:09 PM »
I am a high rpm player, and lately I find myself prefer to stick with particle balls as long as I can before swithching to my reactive's. I find the particle balls much easier to control and stay around the pocket with. Depending on the oil pattern I will start with a sanded monster brimstone then a raging inferno then to two power groove proactive plum's one drilled pin under and one pin above the fingers. When I have trouble getting the last of these balls through the midlane I will then switch to either my slay r bruiser or scream r. Any one else prefer to do the same thing?

I am what some would call a "high rev" lefty, even though I dont think I hook it that much. Anyways after doing some research with my equipment I am noticing that I do much better with lower RG reactive balls. I have a very low axis tilt (11 or 12 degrees) and stay up the back of the ball so I get the ball into a roll right away. With particle equipment, it seems that the ball rolls earlier (as expected), but burns up more energy, so by the time it hits the pins, it has a lot less energy in the tank and leaves a lot of flat 7's. If I square up a bit, ball hits the dry sooner and takes off more going through the face. I have tried different drillings with particle equip to get more backend, and I still get my fair share of flat 7's and light hits. If I played the same line with a solid reactive, ball makes a harder turn with the same breakpoint and my flat 7's either get carried or become wrap 7's. Light hits which would result in washouts or buckets tend to get back to headpin a little more and while I still leave some 3 pins or 3-9 combos, I get more on the back. Still experimenting to see if I can get some of these particle balls to work, if not they will be for sale and I will go back to all reactive.

erock, don't say high rev lefty around here. Ask anyone on this site. If you are a lefty you don't need revs a hook, a release, or anything else. We can throw a straight plastic ball at the last arrow and still hook into pocket because of the wall that all lefties bowl on. lol

You can always hit em hard when you've got the balls

Lefties are the only people in their right minds.

If you are a high rev lefty then how are you coming into the pocket light
with all these STRONG balls?????

your proactive plums hook more than ANYTHING I have in my bag. and I get more
hand in the ball than 90% of the righties around here. (I am also a righty)
and no i don't hit up on the ball.

I would say if you are leaving 3 pins as a lefty you need to learn the forbidden word in a lefties vocabulary. ADJUST! move your feet or or target
at the arrows to stop leaving pins from hitting the pocket light.

What are u talking about buzzhead I am the guy with the proactive plum's. The whole point of the topic was who would rather stay particle balls over reactives as long as possible. Oh and by the way I am right handed.
