I'm looking for some help in selecting a new ball.  I'll be using it on medium-dry  wood lanes.  I am a stroker with medium ball speed (15-17 mph) and low to medium revs.  I like to play straight up the 5 board but can play a small swing if the shot dictates it.  I'm not looking for a particular company, although i have been thinking about the Brunswick Time Zone.  So any comments or suggestions regarding the Time Zone fitting my style or other ball recommendations would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much.

If you want a ball for medium to dry, you will not find that in ONE ball.  You see for Medium oil, I would suggest the Cherry Bomb, but it DEFINITELY would NOT be a DRY ball, while the XXL or XXXL would be DRY, it is NOT for Oil.  That being said, Medium choice would be Black Cherry or Cherry Bomb, and Dry would be XXL or XXXL.  Hope that helps.

I have a little revs than a pure stroker. also I drilled my Time zone pin in the ring finger and MB at 60 deg.

That puts the MB between the thumb and the val. It is very strong on the backend. I have thrown it on a more wetter pattern that what you are seeing but it still has plenty of backend and recovers very strong.

I will post a review of it in a week or so when I have had time to scuff up the surface and get 30 or 40 games on it. but my early impression are it would play very deep inside lines unless you can keep the axis rotation to about 30deg.

Here are a couple suggestions...

Columbia TI Messenger Pearl......one of the best balls ever made......
Track RevMaster....
Storm Thunderflash
Storm Hot Rod

Pearl TI is something else.......and cheap.......think this would be exactly what you are looking for...

Track RevMaster will move a little earlier....but with a coat of polish will be another excellent choice for the value.

If you can find a Storm Thunderflash.......another excellent ball for that shot.......

Storm Hot Rod is another suggestion........have seen that used quite effectively but it is a bit stronger than the above balls.....

I've only thrown my new Time Zone for 2 games - but it looks like it would fit your needs. Judging by its reaction, I would have to say the it would be perfect on medium to medium dry. It's cleaner through drier and broken down heads than my polished tame-drilled Inferno, and has a fantastic back end and POP. I'm between a stroker and tweener, medium speed, and prefer swinging the ball a bit more than you. However, I've seen the Time Zone thrown by 3 or 4 other players, a couple of strokers, and a couple of guys who have more hand than I. The ball was working well for all of them, on virtually any part of the lane (even the LEFT side - God Forbid!!). Looks like this ball is going to be around a while.

If you've got nice backends, the RotoGrip Sonic X Solid will work on med-dry....if there is dry this will be nice up 5.

This might sound stupid but one ball that is not expensive would be a Tornado. I drilled this ball up for me and I throw a little faster around a 17 to 19 mph and I am a stroker. I have medium revs. I put my pin on the right of my ring finger almost conecting with the pin. The pin is really closed to where my finger is. I threw it in league the first night and I shot 268, 254, 224 for a 746.  so this is what I would suggest. The time zone is good but if you don't spin the ball a lot I think it sucks....Brunswick hoooks at your feet....

The TimeZone might be a good ball for this condition, but I think there is a better choice.  Brunswick ranks it in medium to oily out of box. My guess is this ball will probably head to Brooklyn if you want to play straight up 5 on med-dry. You could probably get it to work further inside, or you might be able to get it their with a length drilling.

I think you would have better luck moving a bit down on their comparison chart.
They are releasing in the next couple weeks a SLAYR which might be worth waiting for if you want to stay in Brunswick, or you could find a Scream/R as melondhead suggested. The Frenzy might work, but could be too flippy.

It might be helpful to know what you are currently throwing and how well that works.  I have found a lot of buying a ball is guess and check.
