Title: HA HA HA HA HO HO HO HO HE HE HE HE!
Post by: pchee2 on May 25, 2003, 07:23:24 AM
The Peach<~~~~this guy is laughing at those former gold members.

I love how many of you were on my butt (like Sawbones) about me NOT signing up for the Gold Membership.   You called me cheap, stingy, hypocritical etc.  Ummmmmm I have a question, "Where's your ballreviews Gold Membership now and how 'GOLDEN' do you feel?"

Let me get this straight.  Site needs money, thus "gold" membership.  People sign up to help the cause.  Leftside gets fired.  Site is sold shortly thereafter.  Former site owner is going on a cruise with family.

Maybe the name of the ship is called "Gold Member."

Good one.

I wanted to help the site so I bought a "Gold Membership".
While Scott may be gone the Ballreviews.com is still here.
I harbor Scott no ill will. I spend an average of an hour
a day on the site. It allows me to at least think about
bowling daily. I only get to bowl once or twice a week, so
this at least helps me to feel in touch with my favorite game.
The money I spent on the Gold Membership was amply repaid with
countless hours of entertainment that the site has given me.
I love Ballreviews.com and I hope all of my favorite posters
continue to post and review on the site. Pchee2 this most certainly
includes you. Keep posting! How about a few more ball reviews?
Whoever owns ballreviews is unimportant. It is the posters who matter.
Keep posting!!!!
Best wishes to all and good bowling,
LOUIE

I agree with Louie - AND the gold membership has transferred over to virtualtournaments.com anyway!

I gladly paid for the Gold membership because I had already gleaned so much information from this site from the regulars who constantly post their views and knowledge.  Let's keep posting as Louie said and keep this community alive.

I'm with Pchee2 on this one.......... make fun of us non "goldmembers"
guess who really got the GOLD shaft................ 25 bucks x 150 GOLDSHAFTED MEMBERS = $3750 in the pocket before he even sold it.............. I wanna start a gold member membership up for that kinda cash......... ten minutes work over 6 months to write goldmember under someones name.......... I will do it.........

I have not seen the whiny leftside anywhere since the switch.........at least thats one good thing about it..........

Pchee2 was the one that called us bowlers cheap yet he didn't even bother to kick in 25 dollars for the site regardless of the Gold Membership. I bet he received ten fold more from the site then 25 dollars from donations to his Charity alone.

Time is money and Scott and Leftside put a lot of both into the site.  I don't care about the 25 dollars I would have gladly donated the money when the site had a little financially difficulties.

I'm sure there a lot of readers/posters that bought, sold a ball, gave or received information from/to this site and in some way benefited from this site being here.

I agree that not everyone had the money, desired to give money regardless or didn't spend enough time on this site to think it was worth 25 dollars a year, but for those like me who spends a little time at work reading posts or writing post or spending some time on Ballreviews late at night when nothing is on the television, would agree that 25 dollars a year is not much to spend.

I have met many acquaintances since posting/reading post on Ballreviews and friendships are worth much more then 25 dollars a year IMHO.

Take a look at Nicanor trying to justify his $25.  That is laughable.  I didn't do the gold membership because I didn't have a good feeling about it and I didn't like the way it was run.  It looked too commercial.  A while back during the eteamz days I donated money to Scott for the site because he asked straight out with it telling us that he needs donations for the site to operate.   (I like the straight out asking approach not some exclusive membership circle)  That is also when Lane 1 stepped up to the plate and decided to sponsor the site.

I really didn't care for this whole gold membership thing because it looked like some sort of wannabe country club click and the last thing I will ever be is part of some click much less pay to be in one.  So spend your $25 and justify your reasons for being a gold member.  I proudly say that I abstained from such a program and if its offered in the future I will proudly abstain again.

And yes bowlers are cheap.  Is $25 a lot?  No its not.  Like I said above, I donated money to the site when Scott asked for it without all the gimmicks.  Heck, I spent more than $25 on gas driving my car from Fremont to Castro Valley to hand Nicanor a butt whoopin and show him how to throw thunder strikes like a real man's man and not a girlie navy boy that wears a mechanical arm that RoboCop would envy.   Its not about $25, its all about the principle.

The Peach<~~~this guy did not fall for the Gold membership, he's just too smart

Nicanor<~~~fell for it and is now trying to justify his actions

That Louie guy is so cool, and smart!

I concur!  Maybe cash was transferred with purchase to continue funding server fees, happens often in the purchase of a business.

REgards,

PS I'm getting used to site, it's not blue but it does seem faster!!
cool!

I totally amazed that Pchee2 can remember back to the last two times I went to Fremont and bowled against Pchee2 and friends.  I must admit, Pchee2 does throw thunderous strikes and with that said, always has the potential to throw big games, but if we bowled fouty games in Castro Valley and other bowling centers, I probably let Pchee2 win a few games.  I know that the only p[lace that Pchee2 won any games was at Castro Valley, other then that I took Pche2 to school all weekend even in the tournament that Doc posted the scores for.

I don't care what Scott used the money for, the 25 dollars paid for a sevice.  There are several greeting card websites that started out free and now the have an annual fee.  I think if you look at it as a sevice to the bowling community, 25 dollars isn't much if you use the site with any regularity.  I don't understand why anyone would laugh at someone who has paid a fe for a service that they benifit from rather then make the guy feel bad about it.  Now he even makes Hamster Reloaded feel like he was gullaby to pay for a service, what is Pchee2 trying to teach our youth.

As usual, The Peach is correct.  The Gold Member thing was a bad idea.

Sawbones and others said they didn't want to enter any virtual tournaments to support the site, they simply wanted to donate some money.  I really never understood why Scott refused to just post an address to which people could mail a donation.  Perhaps it was an accounting issue, with "membership" sounding like something people would renew (i.e. continuing income stream), whereas a donation is usually a one-shot deal.

Gold Membership was ill-conceived, and plastering the Gold Member designation beneath the user's name on every single post was a terrible idea.  Glad it's gone...

As much as it pains me.. I have to agree with Pchee2..  LOL

I thought about the GM status, But didn't do it. I also had bad feelings about it. Glad I didn't now. I don't do virtual tournaments.

Overall I didn't buy into the whole GOLD MEMBER thing because like pchee2 stated about the gym thing.  I have seen it too often.

I also think that the time involved in this site versus money generated was a negative thing.

I think that this was a stepping stone for VT so that more money could be made versus time spent.

Just my opinions though.

I can't believe Ty actually agreed with me.  Where's Brickguy to witness it?

Anyway, speaking of sinking in, now that you were fired its about time you unsink your lips from your former boss's buttocks.  I know that it may be difficult because habits are hard to break, but for your own good you may want to unlock your lips from his tush.

Scott asked for the gold membership as a way to fund BALLREVIEWS, not VT.  It does not matter that some things are transerrable to VT.  VT is a completely different site with different dynamics.  Most people put their $25 to BR because they liked the total package that BR has to offer (conversation, knowledge, assistance, friendship and forum communication) and they wanted to keep that alive.   These things are NOT transerrable.  VT is NOTHING compared to BR in those terms, its just a tournament site.    So yes the GM is transerrable but what good is tranferring your membership to something that you never intended to be a part of, and also something that doesn't have anything you want to be a part of.  Its hard to see big pictures without opening your eyes.

The Peach in full ripness, this guy's got FUZZ!
