what information do oiling machines need to oil the lanes?

Depends on the machine.  At Striking Cat we use a Kegel Custodian+.  Kegel has programs that can be downloaded and then fed into their KOSI software.  The files are stored in a txt file.  The shot can be customized by changing the settings in KOSI.  Board numbers, ratios and distances are adjusted in the software.  Go to the Kegel site and there is a lot of info there.
