Hammer or Roto Grip
« on: December 01, 2010, 09:14:30 AM »
I'm trying to decide between getting Hammer Jigsaw Corner or Roto Grip Mutant Cell. They both seem to have similar reactions on the lanes .The Corner hits very hard (as I've seen and heard) but is too expensive (I'll buy if it's worth it). The Mutant Cell doesn't seem to have the same hitting power as the Corner but some have claimed that it could hook more than the Corner, and it's much cheaper to buy. Just curious of others' opinions. Thanks guys.

Loved my Mutant! carried everything!!! The reactions between the balls are different, The Mutant is earlier than the Corner...........

Dont Discount Track. I have a 715T that replaced my Virtual Gravity and it a ton of ball that hit great and a reasonable price!! I also have a 505T that when sanded to 1000Ab reacts just like my Mutant did, that is even cheaper!

I tested out several balls for med. heavy to heavy oil and settled on a Columbia Pure Physics.  I would suggest going to a demo days if you can find one in your area it was very beneficial in helping me select a ball.

Oh yes I've looked but I guess we don't have demo days at any place near here.

I hear good things of these 2, and I see A LOT of bowlers using the Corner which is why I'm kind of tempted to go with the Mutant LoL plus I was recommended the Mutant, but again, recommendations didn't work for me before either... so I've looked into it and these are the 2 best balls that match my needs. There were others, but in pearl coverstocks and those kind of balls leave me too many corner and solid pins!

I would give the Track 715T a look as Vince suggested, I threw it at the demo day and was impressed with it.  It will be a price point cheaper than the Jigsaw Corner.

i have both..
my speed its like 16.6 mph revs around 400
my mutant drilled weaker gave me more angles of attack and more overall hook than the jigsaw.also more backend. while the jigsaw corner gave me a great reaction playing smooth in the track or down and in.
you should take a look to  the Theory from Roto grip... im waiting mine.. they're sating its very similar to original cell..that Imo was better than the mutant.
For those two.. i think the mutant covers more boards in the backend than the jigsaw corner

I think the Trap would be closer to the MCP in reaction then the Corner.

I say Hammer AND Roto Grip!!!

Problem solved! And...you get two hard-hitting balls that can give you two different looks on a pair of lanes.

This is especially good if you want to get away from the herd!

Well hey thanks guys. Just know I'm avoiding pearlized coverstocks as I've said they leave me to many solid/corner pins.

Funny story, I went bowling last night and this guy bowling next to me had the Corner and I told him I'm thinking about getting that ball. I watched him use it as he was a palmer like me, very nice looking when rolling down the lane and nice pin action, but he was leaving some pocket splits too... Not to mention I watched the ball roll out a couple of times.

At this point it looks like the Mutant Cell is getting more votes. Plus I never used a Roto Grip ball, so it would be a new experience.

Hey you know what I'm kinda curious to know if there are any palmers or crankers here who have used either the Mutant Cell or Jigsaw Corner??? I wouldn't mind hearing your feedbacks.
