I've been lurking on this site for long time, I usually come here to keep updated on the new equipment. I pretty much just read the reviews and that's it. I decided to join because I'm starting to bowl more and I'm getting back into bowling competitively so I need to start building a tournament arsenal.  

I've been bowling for 30 years. When I was in my early 20's, I use to bowl tournaments but I got married and had two kids so I stopped bowling competitively and just bowled league twice a week for the last 15 years. My kids are now grown up and they pretty much do their own thing now so my wife gave me the green light to start practicing more so I can start bowling tournaments.

Anyways, Ive thrown nothing but Hammer and Storm for quite sometime. My favorite ball is the Black Widow Solid but I also really liked the Hyroad. I usually buy two balls at the start of every season and this year was no different. I bought the Grind and a Trap this year and so far I really like the Grind but not so much with the Trap. I recently bought a Tropical Heat and so far I really like this ball. My first game with the TH was a 279 leaving a stoned 8 pin.

I need to start building my arsenal for tournaments and I would really like to stick with one company. With Hammer and Storm being my two favorites, I started looking into both their current lineups. Its been a pretty daunting task so far but Storm seems to be a little easier to understand as far as the intent of each ball. I like the Reign series and also the Invasion/Anarchy combo. I'm sure Storm will come out with a hybrid soon. I also like the fact that Storm carries urethane. Also, I haven't thrown a Storm ball I haven't liked. Every ball from Storm has performed excellent for me.

Hammer stuff as always been my favorite. I threw my first honor score with a Hammer and for some reason I just feel loyal to them. (I know its silly)
However, I have bought some Hammer stuff that I haven't quite matched up with so I'm a little worried about going with an all Hammer lineup.

Sorry for the novel but I just didn't want to leave anything out. I hoping to get 6 new balls by February so hopefully some of you knowledgeable people  on here can give me your 2 cents. I did talk with my pro shop guy who just so happens to be my best friend but all he wants to do is push Brunswick so I don't even bother. I stick with him because when it comes to drilling a bowling ball, there's no one better IMHO.. Anyways, thanks for reading my post and I look forward to reading some of your responses..

Don't shut out Brunswick. . .look at a Damage and defintely the C-System series

I'd even consider Track, a 607A SE or 916AT

Hammer, Columbia and Track are made with Ebonite

Storm is good too, their HyRoad is awesome

Since you're just getting back into it I'd opt for used equipment at first

I recently switched to all storm as you are considering. I did this for two reasons:

1) I wanted my balls to smell better (HAHA so funny....)

2) All joking aside, the use of numerous cover and core combos makes it easy to make a diverse lineup and make faster adjustments. ex: I have a 2Fast and Reign, same cover, NOS core is a little earlier and more rollie, where the CAM core is longer and more direction change. From there i move to a weaker/stronger core, and weaker/stronger cover based on what i need. They do put out a lot of equipment, but with similar cores and covers, it makes decisions much easier than a trial and error approach that is required with other companies.

I would leave your options open, there are several good balls available from multiple companies including Storm, Track, Hammer, Columbia, Roto Grip, 900 Global among others.  Some people like to throw only one company, I would suggest that you find a demo day in your area that would allow you to try several different balls.

I've never thrown a Brunswick ball, what makes them so good? I'm down to throw whatever so I will try anything, I just want to stay with one company when building my tournament arsenal. It looks like Storm would be the easiest company to assemble an arsenal with but I admit, I know nothing about Brunswick.

I understand wanting to build an arsenal but the problem I have is why limit to one company when you don't have too. I understand wanting to be loyal to a company but why limit yourself to that one when your not reaping the benefits of that one company. If you are on staff and get balls for free or know a rep that sends you balls is one thing. But willingly going with one ball company limits you. Every company now is making great stuff. I think you would benefit more with having some from different companies. Storm and hammer are great companies. I have a few balls from hammer and a ball or 2 from storm but I also have some big b and ebonite, etc.

Just don't shut out other companies when you dont have to especially when you are having to buy them. branching out with different companies will give you even more variation in your arsenal.
