How could anything be any more unfair than bowling unopposed where the more consistent lane conditions lead to higher potential for higher scores?

With another team on the pair, at least the conditions have more potential to be every bit as inconsistent as they normally are in league -- unless the other team is cooperating to keep them consistent (sort of like "dial M for murder", i.e., you scratch our backs and we''ll scratch yours).

Most people aren''t anywhere near good enough bowlers to be able to take advantage of such situations.
