Shut your mouth house mouse
« on: January 16, 2011, 10:30:29 PM »
I bowl in a PBAX League at a local house, and have a very good time averaging 180 in it LOL. I enjoy the challenge and I enjoy learning to be a better bowler.

One night I am waiting for a group of friends to finish Their Last game in the Mens Handicap League  a guy I know  calls me stupid for wanting the challenge, calls me an idiot for wanting to bowl in league where my average won't be 220+. According to him their is very little difference between PBA Patterns and THS. I asked if he wanted to back his mouth and he avoided the question kept at ripping me, I just walked away, their is no arguing with stupid.

IMO this is one issue with League bowling, Whenever some one wants to get better their is some one else who is putting them down, calling it stupid, why would you wanna get better at what you do? I don't know cause some take pride in doing something and doing it well? Seriously,

You would expect more from a grown adult...or maybe not.

Thanks for any comments, and thanks for listening I have needed to vent that.

I see posts like these all the time.  I don't mean to be rude about it, but if you average 220+ on THS, then 160-180 in a PBA league, wouldn't you still be a house mouse?

I commend you for trying to get better and bowl on tougher patterns, but as you say the guys that stay on THS and shoot over inflated scores have such big heads and think they're better than everyone else, take a look at your post.  Basically you're complaining about the THS guys thinking they're good or better than you, but your response is to act as if you're better than they are because you ventured into a PBAX league and average 180.

I don't mean this to be offensive or rude in anyway, but what you're doing is fighting fire with fire.

I responded to this in a PM also but I wanted to sum it up here also as I find this to somewhat of a slap in my face.

If I read this right, I am not allowed to defend myself from criticism, He is telling me how stupid I am for wanting to be better, but when I asked him to back his talk he avoids. If he would have taken the challenge and I lost I would have owned up to it no question. Mind you I did not attack him first, I came down to talk with my friends and he was bowling on the next pair over and he came to me not the other way around.

I guess I am not allowed to defend myelf or my position and I should allow people to walk all over me.

And like I said in my PM back to you, (I don't feel there is anything that was in private that can't be shared here) is that who cares if someone thinks you're stupid for trying to better yourself.  As far as my response being a slap in the face, just because I don't agree with you, doesn't mean I am slapping you in the face.

I don't know you, you don't know me, we don't owe each other any respects.  You posted about a guy talking junk and you responded by talking junk about him on a private forum.  I was just calling you out for fighting fire with fire.

Keep on working and get better.  Nobody here is mad at ya for it.

The difference is your attitude, Pat.  You average your 220+, go about your business, and know that you are not "hot stuff ready to go out on tour guy".  For me, the "house mouse" guys are the ones that only bowl one or two houses, but constantly spout off about how good they are, how much they know, who they know, blah, blah, blah.  You are a good THS bowler, but you don't think you are the next big thing.  If somebody calls you a house mouse, turn and walk away.

I have a question, I have been called a "House Mouse" (in which I take with a grain of salt) only because I elect to bowl in one center.  It is the newest center in my home area and is only a 1.5 mile drive from my home.  I average 220+ in this house and even averaged 230 in one of my two leagues last season.

I work nights and only have the option to bowl on wednesdays, thursdays or fridays, I choose to bowl on weds and fri.  Now, I have averaged 200+ for several years regardless of where I bowl, even when I bowled Regionals in the early 90"s I had a composite average of 200+.  Is it fair that I'm classified as a "House Mouse" or am I just a good THS bowler?

If I had a PBAX league available to me to bowl in, I would definitely jump on the opportunity to do so, but those types of leagues don't exist around here or the rare ones that do are on nights in which I work.

I am not defending the "House Mouse" but in all fairness there are those who just excel on the THS when that is all that is available for them to bowl on.
