White House visits.........................
« on: March 22, 2008, 12:40:14 AM »
Not a political thread this time------lol.
Something I've never thought about till now,and maybe I'm way behind the times on this.Every year, the winners of the World Series,Super Bowl, the NBA Championships, and even the NCAA winners are invited to meet the President.
Why aren't the winners of the four majors,or even the U.S. Open in bowling invited to the White House???
I realize that bowling wasn't invented here in the U.S. Is that the reason that they aren't asked to meet the President??????
Thanks in advance for all replies...............

nd300. This is bowling you're talking about here. Go up to anyone on the street and ask them to name one professional bowler, just one and see the response. Nobody cares. That's why.

Wow.Has our sport really sunk that low in the opinion of most Americans?????????? Are we headed to a future of bowling popularity being mostly birthday parties for the kids, followed by cosmic or glow bowling???   Will league bowling continue it's apparent decline to being a legacy sport where memebers are sons and daughters of current or past members in the same league???

The women from Vanderbilt were invited to the White House after winning the championship last year, so it's not as dismal as some of you think.  Maybe bowling just doesn't get the press play of other sports when the invitations are sent out.

I know that WRW was invited to the white house when Gorege H Bush was president but i think that was for horesshoes. I also have heard that there are two bowling lanes in the white house basment. I'm not sure if they are still there or not but I know they were there in the past because I worked with a guy who had to go there and resurface them.
