Seriously, I am begining to believe the theory that older balls from the early-mid 1990's like the rhinos, original zones and hammers hit like a tank and carry and these new hybrid covers are crap. This teal 1993 rhino straight up murdered the pins tonight and none of my new stuff came close. it cost me a 1.99 and 26 bucks to plug and drill.

Some days I wish I still had my Rhino Pro Teal but I am glad that Brunswick reintroduced the light-bulb core with the Avalanche series. The Slide and the Pearl are 2 of my favorite balls on league night.

If you look closely at most ball companies mid priced balls they have the older design cores. Even Brunswick is still using PK18 on some of its balls.

I will agree with this statement, to a degree.

I see the same in the house I bowl in, but I bowl only on sport shot, so I don't have the same issue with them doing so. When I watch the average league bowlers all throwing their VG (or similar high performance reactives/particles), its not quite the same as watching other members of my team get out there throwing that equipment. The rev rate, if you can call it that, of those THBs doesn't come close to any of the guys I bowl with, so the effect on the lane isn't a dramatic as it would be if there were bowlers with some hand out there. They use that equipment because its what they need to get back to the pocket.

The only time I'll end up using something that strong, like my Bounty Hunter, is going to be on a long pattern, and we see those pretty rarely (although they ran up on us twice last season).

The other thing I'd mention as to the OPs question is: because you think it should. Your confidence in the ball plays a large part in how to end up rolling it...
