Hardest spare ball?
« on: May 29, 2004, 09:42:53 PM »
Ok, I use a nail urethane for spares right now, but I'd like to pick up a "super straight" spare ball by the end of the summer...

Now, looking at the various companies, which spare ball is the hardest (least hook).......I guess I can count out Lane 1!!

Storms spare ball has the hardest durometer rating like 84. The C300 Blue dot use to be just as hard, but is currently rated the same as the WD's. The white dots are rated at 74 or something like that.

Now that the Blue Dot is just a White Dot of a different color , I believe it's the Spare Storm.

I just went to check on the hardness of the Roto-Grip Cosmos polyester ball (It's 80 which is very hard these days) and learned that they had discontinued it!!

I think that 80 was second to Storm's Spare Storm's 84-86. I had a Spare Storm but the feel of that ball was just too disgusting. It felt greasy all the time and I couldn't get rid of that feeling. You don't want that grease/oil on your hands. (I always wipe my spare ball off, just so I won't get the oil, which does not soak into the cover like a resin ball, on my hands.)
