Has anyone ever successfully...
« on: February 20, 2007, 02:09:04 PM »
While reading through the wanted/for sale/for trade forum, I always come across postings (not talking about any specific ones.. but in general) where there will be a bunch of older equipment listed.. lots of times having plug work, scratches/nicks, cracking, etc.. and then the poster will say something to the effect of:

"will trade multiple balls for NIB..."

or

"would like to trade for current line equipment"

I know that when I read these types of posts, the first thing that comes to my mind is, "why would anyone in their right mind trade a NIB current line ball for two or three used (and plugged) balls?"  Or, who would want to trade their current-line ball for something that's quite a bit older?  I'm sure there may be certain circumstances where a person happens to be looking for a specific ball... but honestly, I can't ever imagine this actually happening.

So my question is (and this is mainly for the people who create these type of postings), has anyone actually ever made a trade like this before?  LOL.

If someone has a NIB ball they don't really care about, and wants one of the used balls pretty bad, the deal wouldn't be so sour to them.  Remember value is only what someone is willing to pay for it....if someone really wants a ball, they will spend what is necessary (a NIB ball) for it.

Depending on the circumstances, I could plug/sell the 3 used balls for more than I could 1 used in the shop.

Thats just my take, I dunno. I do trade-ins in the shop, and give folks 15-30 trade-in value per ball depending what it is.
